Nostradamus..

Nostradamus..was he for real?

It is said he has predicted many events far into the future, long after he died.

The 9/11 attacks on America for instance.

Nostradamus: Predictions for the Past, Present and Future
Is it possible to see into the future?  Many believe that a man named Michel de Nostradamus could.  His predictions of the future have mystified scholars for over four hundred years.  Nostradamus made over one thousand predictions and historians say that over half of them have already come true.  The most startling of his predictions deal with the coming of three anti-Christs (Guentte).  My paper will focus on these prophecies made by Michel de Nostradamus.  If his predictions of the past are accurate, then his predictions for the future may also come true.
In order to establish Nostradamus' credibility, it is important to know facts concerning his actual life.  Michel de Nostradame -who later latinized his name to Nostradamus- was born in 1503 in St. Remy de Provence, France.  His family was Jewish but converted to Christianity, and the young Michel was brought up as a Catholic  (Reader's Digest 511).  Being a brilliant student, Michel learned classical languages, mathematics, and astrology from his grandfather.  Later he decided to pursue medicine and enrolled at the University of Montpellier (Time Life 16).  As a skilled physician, he became famous for his amazing success in treating victims of a deadly plague  (Reader's Digest 511).
"
----------------------------------------------
For what did Nostradamus become famous?
As a physician, Nostradamus became famous because of fighting the plague. He traveled through the infected areas and applied, with success, medicines that were uncommon in his time. He translated a book by Claudius Galenus, the founder of West European healing.
As an astrologer, Nostradamus became famous for the yearly publishing of almanacs (beginning in 1550). These almanacs contained political predictions for each month, later known as the Présages. In 1999, Bernard Chevignard published Présages de Nostradamus (ISBN 2-02-035960-X). This book contains a compilation by De Chavigny of the Présages and some of the almanacs.
Nostradamus became famous for his Prophecies, which he published in parts between 1555 and 1558.
As a writer, Nostradamus is famous for books with topics like travel journals, gastronomy, herbal medicines and advices regarding beauty.".

In this article, we'll find out who Nostradamus was and what he did. We'll also look at the ongoing controversy surrounding Nostradamus, including his supposed prediction of the September 11 attack on the United States

The Early Years
Nostradamus is the Latinized name of Michel de Nostredame, a physician and astrologer who lived in 16th-century France. The details of his life aren't always clear, and they are hotly debated among modern Nostradamus followers and critics. (This site claims that most of the accepted biography is pure myth).

Nostradamus (1503 - 1566)

It is generally agreed that Nostradamus was born in 1503, into an educated, well-to-do family of grain traders. Apparently, he was instructed in a wide range of academic subjects at an early age, including traditional sciences, math, languages (Latin, Greek and Hebrew) and astrology.

Nostradamus also received a broad religious education. His father's side of the family was Jewish but had converted to Roman Catholicism, either when Nostradamus was young or sometime before he was born. By some accounts, this heritage led Nostradamus to study Jewish scriptures, as well as the books of the New Testament. Throughout his life, according to legend, Nostradamus was interested in the apocalyptic prophecies in the Book of Revelation, as well as Kabbalah, a mystical branch of Judiasm"

Interesting Oceans.  I wonder if Bush is the third anti-christ - even though he professes to be a born again.  Can we believe him?

The first two antichrists Nostradamus predicted are Napoleon and Hitler. Napoleon was the first Anti-Christ as the belief (erroneously) at his time was that the kings of Europe claimed lineage back to David and were Divinely appointed to there position. He made war on these kings as well as the Pope, who claims to be the Vicar of Christ on earth. Hence, Antichrist #1. Hitler he prophesied by name, but he was off by one letter, spelling it Hister. Hitler on the other hand was aware that the Heir to the Throne would come from the line of David and the House of Judah and was prophesied to rule over the whole earth. He therefore figured in order for himself to rule the world he must extinguish this lineage, but not knowing which Jew was descended from David, he attempted to kill them all. Thus, Antichrist #2. But, the third Antichrists is the most terrible of them all. The first two Antichrists didn't know who was the heir, but the third one did know, didn't make any mistake and has attempted to end the lineage.

Who is the Third Antichrist?

Many people have tried to understand these prophecies but to no avail. Let us now look at prophecies of Nostradamus' associated with the third Antichrist.

Century II quatrain 62

Mabus will soon die and there will come
A dreadful destruction of people and animals,
Suddenly vengeance will be revealed,
Hundred, hands, thirst and hunger when the comet will pass.

Century VI quatrain 33

His hand finally through the bloody ALUS,
He will be unable to protect himself by sea,
Between two rivers he will fear the military hand,
The black and angry one will make him repent of it.

In Erika Cheethams book The Prophecies of Nostradamus on page 261 she explains that the name of the third antichrist is tied up in these two quatrains. She entitles this section, "Name of the Third Antichrist?" She then goes on to say...

"ALUS is another unsolved mystery. I wonder if this connects with the fearsome Mabus of II. 62?"

ALUS is ALlied US forces; i.e. the countries that assisted the US in the Gulf War, and Mabus is Saddam Hussein. When we hold this name Mabus up to the mirror we get sudaM. Mabus = sudaM. Sudam is Saddam Hussein. It is no longer a mystery and yes indeed they are connected! So we find that when Saddam Hussein (mabus) dies we will see a dreadful destruction. The comet referred to is the comet Lee, which was made visible during the solar eclipse that passed over the Holy Land in August of 1999. It was at this time that we would know who this antichrist was. Now, "His" in C6 Q 33 is Saddam Hussein (Mabus) as "he will be unable to protect himself by sea." This is because Kuwait, which was at one time the 19th province of Iraq, now independent, blocks his entry to the sea. The "two rivers" that he is between are the Tigris and the Euphrates, which flow right through Baghdad, Iraq. General Schwarzkopf is the "black and angry one" as his name means black head as it is translated from the German. He was the commander during the Gulf war who made Saddam repent because of the devastating effects of the sanctions imposed upon Iraq following the war. Finally, Cheetham says,

"There is a repetition of the French word ‘MAIN' in connection with both quatrains. It may be an approximation of the name of the third Antichrist tying up with the cryptic quatrain (II. 28) where Nostradamus seems to be trying to spell the letters of his name."

I just finished reading a book about this guy. It was pretty interesting, though it didn't go into his predictions in much detail. It shed a lot of light on what Europe was like at the time. He was born into jewish family but was forced to renounce his religion or something like that. The protestants and catholics were attacking each other in mobs. There was not much difference between a doctor and a pedler of herbs and potions. The plague was going back and forth. People were gullible. Even kings and queens sought his council.

He worked as a doctor and was involved in financing some local irrigation projects as well. He seemed to have a skill with his 'prognostications' that made them both interesting yet infuriatingly vague. He was also politically astute, as you would have to be if you were a wealthy Jew at the time, and he used this to his advantage in making prognostications for royalty.

There have been a lot of 'hoaxes' - people making stuff up and claiming he predicted it. These spread like wildfire, especially after 9/11. I guess that makes sense given the sort of people that go in for this sort of thing. Most of the research into him has been sloppy, with people just relying on recently published work and not bothering to go back to the orginal sources, some of which are still around.

Nostradamus... how can you believe that fraud?

He just guessed something really vague...

One day there will be this man called 'Hissler' and he will cause great chaos among people across the world.

Give me a break... there will eventually be SOMEONE in the future named whatever who caused whatever.

Hey... i'll make a prediction... there will eventually be someone named 'Smith' in the distant future... who invents 'something' that changes the world.

No matter how long you wait... there will eventually be someone wiht some name who does something...

I remember watching some conspiracy theory documentaries in 1997 predicting the world will end in the new millenium... oh dear... nothing happened...

But wait... 9/11... oh! It was 9/11 those predictors saw! Wow... they must've seen that! It all makes sense now!  Roll Eyes

The only reason nostradamus was famous... was... like Freediver pointed out... he was a wealthy Jew who could afford good advertisement.
