In Germany there are laws against giving a child a 'strange' name.

NZ won't allow '4real' as child's name

New Zealand authorities have blocked a couple's bid to officially name their new son "4real," saying numerals are not allowed.

Pat and Sheena Wheaton said they decided to name their new baby "4real" shortly after glimpsing him for the first time as a foetus during an ultrasound examination and being struck by the reality of his impending arrival.

But when the parents filed the name with New Zealand's Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages, they were told names beginning with a number were against the rules.

The government office has opened negotiations with the parents about the name under a policy that says all unusual names must be given case-by-case consideration.

Satan and Adolf Hitler were proposed names that have been declined, he said.

If no compromise has been reached by July 9, the baby will be registered as "Real" officials say.

Someone actually asked on Yahoo 'Gender Studies' if Escargon was a good name for a boy....

The Imperial Maitre d'... staff of office in hand, strides manfully to the centre of theChamber... raps his staff three times... then loudly proclaims:-

The Chamber erupts into gales of laughter... certain older Members, deep in their cups, awaken and inadvertently shove the lithe and supplicant maidens from their laps... and seeing the knee-slapping ribaldry and then perceiving its source - join in the laughter ... an ancient crone passing by in the street faints at the sounds of mirth coming from the chamber.... and the horses are startled in the Imperial Square....

Escargon The Mighty, Beneficiary of his Mother's benign choice of name... slinks away from the Chamber.... a cloud over his head.....

He'll get that Maitre d' some day... that bastard........

giving a child a name they will have to spell forever is enough to drive you mad......years ago a man who lived in our street was called Sir Smith..his brother was called Earl Smith...now Sirs second name was Fredrick...one day a guy came looking for him knocked on our door and asked did Sir Fredrick Smith live there....my mum told him where he lived but that he wasnt a Knight...lol the guy was a debt collector...he said I will call him Fred Smith and he can do what he likes with it...lolol.... the street had a good laugh at his expense....
