why wouldnt you be pro Israeli, i dont understand why everyone despises them so.
They are a small nation surrounded by hostile enemies yet they continue to resist and even on occaision go on the offensive.
They do not want war with arab nations, anyone who has followed the history of Israel closely will know that they have never started any situation, they have always been reactionary.
Israeli people in general are more agnostic than jewish. It is a very strong "jewish" and now Israeli nationalism that binds them not their religion.
They are a strong nationalistic people who have had their backs to the wall for over 50 years, yet still fight on. How can you not admire that?
Israel has made so many attempts to achieve peace with the palestinians and arabs that it is no longer funny.
In 1948 after the UN drew up a map of Israel and Palestine as two seperate countries, all the surrounding arab nations immediatly invaded Israel with vast support from the Islamic palestinians. (Christian Palestinians have never fought against Israel, they have been great supporters of Israel).
Israel on the defensive won the war against all odds and instead of continuing the war they made peace as soon as possible.
again in 1967 Egypt under Nasser blockaded Israels ports to the red sea leaving the country in a strangle hold and moved his army to the border of Israel to do "manouvers". He then signed a mutual defence pact with Syria and Jordan. Syria for a long time had been promising to get revenge on Israel for 1948.
Israel retaliated and the 6 day war began. Israel ofcourse won, taking vast swabs of land, including the entirety of Sinai, which is many time larger than Israel itself.
However it is important to note that they did not invade Jordan past the river Jordan even though they could have taken ove rthe entire country. Further more Israel reached damascus the capitol of Syria, yet instead of occupying, they relinquished the land except for the Golan heights, from where the syrians had been shelling Israeli farms.
in 1973 the arabs invaded again, this time on the jewish holiday of yom kipper, which is like christmas for us. The israelis were all on holiday and not ready and suffered many losses innitially, but as they got their act together they won once again against a superior force.
in a peace deal with Egyptian president sadat the Israelis gave back to egypt Sainai, and the two nations have been at peace still. it is inetresting to note that Sadat was murderd by his own poeple for making this peace deal, Golda Meir the prime minister of Israel was lauded as a hero by her own people for making peace.
Jordan also signed a peace agreement with Israel after the war, and the two nations have been at peace since.
Syria still refuses to speak to Israel.
Iraq i am not sure about now.
And if anyone wants to comment on their treatment of the palestiniains they really should read a more, and in different places than they usually do, bias is rife.
