If someone, out of nothing, decides to discriminate based on skin colour/physical features, then that's fair enough. But this ban on race came directly from cultural habits, not directly from the fact that the owners didn't like the way they looked.

But you can always find some excuse for racist practices that seems to justify them. It's still racism. You are excluding someone based on their race, without any regards to the individual person. You are punishing one person for the actions of another. You are asuming that every person of a certain race ahs the same problem.

The individual for starter. Anyone who has been a victim of racism.

I couldn't care less about the 'individual.'

I suspect this problem goes deeper than racism. Are we just cogs in some machine?

Not a certain 'race' a certain 'culture.' It just so happens that people of that culture look the same.

Same thing in practice. Can you tell what culture a person practices by looking at them? No. You can only tell if they look the same. You cannot tell whether someone actually has a drinking prroblem. Unless they are already drunk of course.

And it's a very convenient/efficient way of identifying a large bulk of the troublemakers.

You left out racist. Convenience is no excuse for racism.

i guess ur view would change if u were that individual.

so let's do a hypothetical scenario here, lets assume u got denied entry to a pub based on ur race, since the stereotype of ur race is one that makes trouble. you haven't done anything wrong yourself, so it that racist to deny u entry? also, is it racist to paint all people of ur culture with the same brush, ie being a bunch of trouble-makers?

i think it would be.

Your hypothetical situation could be taken a step further.

Supposing an establishment makes a decision that could be seen to be racist.
That stablishment will be barring ALL the prospective clients of that race.
Thereby foregoing all income on the bais that that race is more trouble than it is worth.

Financially they will thrive or fall on that decision. It is on their own heads.
It is their business, it is their choice.

I say this because I was banned from hiring a video player years ago on the basis that I was a kiwi.
I went to another shop, they were more business minded, had a different scheme and made a profit off me.
That is the free market working efficiently.
Who "won."

This decision is not about colour. It is about economics, past experiences and freedom of choice.

Pffft. If they were banning white people, I'd simply go to another pub. In fact, I'm going to a country next year that sometimes bans white people from their restaurants/ bars. It's not like I'm going to be carrying placards and crying like a little girl like these losers are.
