Sex in advertising-sex sells
Apr 22nd, 2007 at 5:50pm

Is it absolutely neccessary to have a pair of boobs and a pert butt to sell a car to a guy?

Does seeing a hot girl on TV make you want to buy a car against your better judgement?

Is sex in advertising immoral or good marketing.

I notice there are no hot studs trying sell us girls anything. Is that because marketers think women are smarter than men?
Or do they market to us in a different way?

I agree entirely oceans.
The inequality of sexist advertising is boorish, eventually demeaning, divisive for both sexes.

Financially must be lunacy to appeal to only 50% of your clients.

I spend MONTHS researching my next stereo, let alone a car.

Mind you, women are very pleasant to admire.

Just recently they have started advertising makeup for men - straight men even from what I can tell.

And there are plenty of other ads with half naked oiled up men. I just can't think of any at the moment. KFC I think uses a good mix.

we do get a few hunky guys here and there-but nothing in proportion to men - as sprint said freediver.

Sprint do you really spend months researching your next stereo-- with so much to choose from, it cant be easy making an informed choice?Even then you cant be sure you got the very best bargain and or/quality item?

But IF a hot lass in a string bikini sold it to you ity would be an easy chioce.

Which is why I go for what looks nice - much easier.

yes, is nothing in comparision.  Not even within howitzer range.

I spent months listening to them. It had to fit into a physucally smallish area.
Most small ones sounds like trash.
The music quality is inversely proportional to the number and colour of all the flashing lights on them.

The pianocraft has a button to turn the minimal lights off , supposed to enhance the sound quality !
When nerds come up with a head twisting idea like that, just buy it.

I trusted my ears.

i agree, sex sells and that's not something new.

but a women's sex appeal are used to promote products more than men. ok, apart from Tim Tam's, the sex appeal of men isn't used in advertising and KFC?? what KFC ad's are u referring to?

somehow, i don't think this is what the woman's rights movement was thinking when they wanted to be treated equally.

call me old-fashioned, but i like it when a woman dresses more since it forces me to get to know their personality rather than focus on their appearance. makes for a more stable relationship as the attraction u have is deeper than purely physical.

Compare a KFC ad with a VB ad. A VB ad has more typical blokes. You see pot bellies, moustaches, sweat etc. A KFC ad often has a group at the beach of men and women of roughly equal proportions, all young and good looking. The guys in it are abviously not targetted to appeal to a guy's sense of 'blokiness.' They are there to appeal to the women. Or perhaps to both sex's idea of what cool is. I think I started noticing this a few years back. Perhaps it has gone under the radar. Sure there aren't as many men being used as women (yet), but it is very common.

freediver, generally the female has the buying power within a household but, when it comes to mans toys like tools, beer etc (because they are historically the majority) the advertising will be targeted to the male. Most advertising is targetted to women. When you see an ad you don't like or understand, generally your not the target market.

It seems to me that much of the barely clothed girly ads are for women's stuff.   There was an ad where a stack of bosomy girls got their shirts off - it was for bras.    Ads with women in their undies are for tampons and those where they are near naked are for tanning lotions and hair removers.   So the boobs appeal to women for some reason or advertisers would stop.

They don't use women much for men's crap because men don't even notice ads on TV.   They go into a shop and just grab the nearest one.

Car ads are different though I agree, it's the fantasy thing of cool car hot chick thing which possibly appeals to men who like their cars.   I drive them but don't give a toss for its street appeal.

You're right deepthought. Women are so competitive between there own species it is unbelievable. When you spend years researching this stuff it makes you worry about the female species. Such a manipulating bunch. Mind you any female that reads this will have their claws out but that's fine it will only reinforce what I'm saying.
