I for one am sick to death of not knowing who the people are on Australian money!

Who the hell is that guy??? Can anyone recognise him without looking him up? Questioning

And what about this one?

What the hell? What the heck did she ever do to get her ugly face on the $20 bill?

Look, I'm sure most of these people have done great things, but can we have someone we ACTUALLY recognise on our notes? That's the whole point of having faces on money... to recognise them and for them to make us proud of who we are.

And these guys do NOTHING for me.

So that's my challenge to all of you, pick people more suitable to be on our cash.

I'll start:

Personally, I think that the paper notes had far more influential individuals than those on the polymer notes. Take the $50 note. On the paper note, you have Howard Florey, co creator of Penicillin, and William Ross, a veterinary scientist whose chairmanship of the CSIRO was regarded as seeing a rise in scientific research in Australia. On the plastic note, you have David Unaipon, an Aboriginal preacher, inventor and author, and Edith Cowan, a social worker and the first female parliament member.

While I was waiting for the number 23 bus in London last year, I noticed a plaque on the wall near me.

...

I had no idea I was standing in such an historically significant spot.

Was a cool discovery  Smiley

I see your point Issuevoter. There is a slight difference of 'influential' between the Paper and plastic people on them.

Personally, I would like to see the notes themselves show a more 'Artistic' aspect, a new modern style of Australia compared to the rest of the world. Afterall, the World is looking to and relying on Australia becoming the World's leading Artistic nation (like the USA is for politics, the middle-east is for military).
I don't place importance of the 'celebrity' appearance since the Roman era, when it comes to money - otherwise, shouldn't there be the appearance of the Top 10 of Australia's most Wealthiest people (money) in History. They must be dead to be recognised. I mean - it is 'money' afterall. The notes look like all those celebrities who get painted for the Archibald pomparity and 'ego'.

I think our money should be more Artistic, rather than Politically influenced.  Wink Cool

...btw.

I say that, because having our money 'Artistic' based, no longer Political. You could say then, that I believe it will make us 'more' money nationally... BECAUSE IT IS A NICHE MARKET  Wink
