The article linked in the OP, in referring to persons who are "liberal, secular Muslims who are victims", is engaging in semantics and engaging in truth avoidance,
and in promoting a wholly dishonest argument.

How so ?

Because by definition, a person who labels himself, as 'a moslem',
is a follower of ISLAM.

And because, by definition,      a moslem       is a supporter and follower of,   ...ISLAM and is an active supporter of ISLAMIC religious precepts.


ARGUMENT;
If the words which we all use in conversation [with each other],     ...actually mean what those words are describing, then my argument, that,
a moslem is a follower of ISLAM,
must be given credence.



ISLAM is a philosophy which teaches its adherents [IN ISLAM'S MOST BASIC, AND PRIMARY RELIGIOUS PRECEPTS],
that a follower of ISLAM must harbour a seething hatred, for anyone who declares their rejection of the primacy of ISLAM, and ISLAMIC law.

This is 100% TRUE

And mainstream ISLAMIC religious precepts, teach ISLAM'S adherents that it is lawful for a follower of ISLAM to kill anyone who 'offends' the religion of the moslem, 'offends' by choosing to not be a follower of ISLAM.

This is 100% TRUE



Again, a moslem, by definition, chooses to associate himself with ISLAM.

And chooses to associate himself with what the mainstream religious precepts of ISLAM promote [as the legitimate 'life values' of every follower of ISLAM].


ARGUMENT;
There is no such creature, as a "liberal, secular Muslim".

A moslem,    ...is a follower of ISLAM.
