Title: They lie... You believe. Post by Raven on Nov 13th, 2018 at 12:03am
How does the Trump administration consistently lie to the American public and not be held accountable?
Sarah Sanders shared a video of CNN reporter Jim Acosta that has been altered to make his actions at a news conference look more aggressive toward a White House intern. The edited video looks authentic: Acosta appeared to swiftly chop down on the arm of an aide as he held onto a microphone while questioning President Trump. But in the original video, Acosta’s arm appears to move only as a response to a tussle for the microphone. His statement, “Pardon me, ma’am,” is not included in the video Sanders shared. It doesn't end there. She has also claimed, falsely, that more jobs have been created for African-Americans since Trump took office than during Barack Obama's eight-year tenure. In acknowledging that this was absurdly wrong (the true figures are about 3 million new jobs under Obama and about 700,000 under Trump), Sanders claimed that numbers she had given were right but "the time frame for Pres Obama wasn't." Even that, however, is a lie. A little lie to be sure but little lies lead inexorably, of course, to big lies. Trump and his aides want us to believe that of the estimated 4 million Americans who have security clearances of some kind, the only individuals who deserve to have their clearances reviewed — and ultimately, perhaps, revoked — are a handful of vocal critics of Trump, including such figures as former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, former national security adviser Susan Rice and former acting Attorney General Sally Yates. In fact the Washington Post published a remarkable story on its front page revealing a recent spike in the number of “false and misleading claims” made by President Trump. In his first year as President, Trump made 2,140 false claims, according to the Post. In just the last six months, he has nearly doubled that total to 4,229. In June and July, he averaged sixteen false claims a day. On July 5th, the Post found what appears to be Trump’s most untruthful day yet: seventy-six per cent of the ninety-eight factual assertions he made in a campaign-style rally in Great Falls, Montana, were “false, misleading or unsupported by evidence.” Trump’s rallies have become the signature events of his Presidency, and it is there that the President most often plays fast and loose with the facts, in service to his political priorities and to telling his fervent supporters what they want and expect to hear from him. At another rally in August in Tampa, Trump made thirty-five false and misleading claims, on subjects ranging from trade with China to the size of his tax cut. Since taking office, Trump has repeated close to a hundred and fifty untruths at least three times. Trump has lied, along with a tsunami of other fabrications, about former president Barack Obama’s birthplace, he’s made false claims about why he did not win the popular vote, he’s stated he knew nothing about payments prior to his election to the porn star Stormy Daniels, and he’s wrongly declared that the U.S. is the highest taxed nation in the world. Now instead of Trump saying this imagine it was Hillary. |

If you believe that there were dinosaurs on Noah's Ark then there is no limit to the falsehoods you can believe, like Obama being a Muslim with no American birth certificate ...

I'm not sure, Raven, but I think the correct answer is that Fat Steve and his lovely partner Janeen just enjoy the sheer drama of it all.
Let's face it, they don't care much about truth or facts, that's just academic leftard nonsense (16 out of 17 professors are Marxists). They just want a bit of entertainment. You know, like ice hockey or wrestling. They just want to vibe with TV, fast food and dope, and what's wrong with that? They love Mr Trump for lifting them out of their miserable existences. They want him to cut off their health care and welfare. They want tax cuts for the rich. They want to see more military spending, they're all keen on that. A border wall has always been at the top of their list of priorities. Yes, they love seeing the Saudis propped up and the Israeli embassy moved to Jerusalem (although to be honest, they don't pay much attention to the details). In short, they understand that all this will make Amerika great again. They love football, hot dogs, Chevrolet and the America flag, and they love and respect their leader, Donald J Trump. Truth has never been at the top of their list, Raven, but that shows just how much Mr Trump cares. If the American people cared about truth, he'd be sure to tell it to them, but right now, he's just vibing with Fat Steve and Janeen. What a fine fellow, what a Democrat, he'll make everybody happy, you'll see. Suck on that, leftards. Not happy now, are you? You never are. |

i have a darwinian definition of "the truth". its steeped in Piagets famous truth
"that we are all playing a game and if we continue to play the game and enjoy it then we have discovered the truth , by the definition of the game itself. so, for example, if a mad scientist was able to cross ebola with smallpox and produce a supervirus that wiped out humanity, then whilst he was performing a scientific truth, because the consequences were failure of the species, then these actions were not true, by the definition of the game itself. and if we construct a mythological hero , say in the form of christ and then we play the game of christianity and then we look back and see that michelangelo and the renaisance has emerged as a consequence. if we see that the sanctity of the individual has led us to the american constitution and the success of the west, then we can say that christianity is "true" by the definition of the game itself. and you can run many things thru this filter. you can run the game of marxism and see it is not a true game. people stopped wanting to play. you can run multiculturalism and see where it works and where people have not wanted to play, so it might be a true game for new york but not a true game for hungary or saudi arabia. now is the game of trump true? well, we are running the game. its like monopoly, if people like the game, they will keep playing, if they dont, then the game isnt true. what people like karnal try to do is to thru their own filter say that monopoly is a game with fake real estate and counterfeit money and how could anyone consider these things to be true. thats his version of the truth. mine is that if people like playing the game of trump, if it accrues over time, if the rules of trump can be course corrected to keep the game interesting, then trump is true. putin, stormy daniels, how many people came to a rally, whether he builds a wall....thats really nothing at all to do with whether the 'game of trump" is worth playing. is Game of thrones worth watching? karnal would say that there are at least 300 lies in it, that dragons dont exist, that a princess cant survive in a fire, that jon snow cant be brought back to life. Karnal would make fun of it and urge us to ban it. but if its a popular game that people enjoy, then it is true from a darwinian perspective and thats really all that matters |

Aquascoot, Mr Trump's campaign slogan for the mid-terms was "promises made, promises kept". Mr Trump stood in front of this sign while he promised all sorts of things, including a 10% income tax cut to match the recent corporate tax cuts. He said he'd fight to keep pre-existing medical conditions out of health cover. And yes, he's building his big, beautiful wall.
Now in reality, Mr Trump could never deliver a 10% tax cut. Congress had dissolved for the mid-terms. The Trump administration has been fighting to keep pre-existing medical conditions in. And the wall? Only a few weeks ago, Mr Trump said he'd shut down the government if Congress didn't approve the funding. This is the game Mr Trump's playing. He hears what Joe Lunchbox wants, and just says he's doing it. He says he's fighting for working class people, when in reality, he's giving everything he can to the big corporations. And then he says he's shaking up the Establishment and going after special interest groups. Now I believe you support this game, but can you see why people might feel a bit cheated by it? When Mr Trump's asked by journalists how he'll do these things, Mr Trump just evades the question and calls them FAKE news for having the gall to ask. I'm not clear why you think there's some sort of integrity in this game. Wouldn't it be more Darwinian if the politicians who survived the electoral process actually DID deliver on their promises? Isn't that the whole point of the political system? By supporting lies, you're going against nature. You're trying to prop up a leader who should have been made extinct long ago. Mr Trump pretends, and then plays the victim game when he's called out. He never admits fault or takes responsibility, which is essential for human evolution. Great men and women, after all, acknowledge and correct their faults. Mr Trump just carries on lying about them. When is he going to acknowledge that the wall has no hope of being built? Can he just keep pretending he's building it? Can he keep sending troops to the border to defend the country from an "invasion" of 3000 unarmed men, women and children? Can he keep playing games with the biggest economic and military power in the world? I think he can and will. But can you see how people may find this game a little self-indulgent? |

Donald J Trump is not a seasoned politician. He is much more in the mold of a 'Ronald Reagan', an inexperienced 'new boy'. But many American citizens would rather vote for a politically inexperienced Trump. They know that had the Democrat party come to power, to the Presidency with HRC, that would have been a much much worse outcome, than Donald J Trump. |

I would rather believe a non-wordsmith like Trump who calls a spade a spade and crushes all the eggshells in the Media... than the MEDIA itself.
It's been the Media's influence in Politics that has corrupted Politics for so long. ...a Media that has been more bias to the likes of Africa, Asia, Europe and itself (Oceania) than North America where it tells people it represents. Yeah right ::) |

Oh Aquascoot, they're seasoned world leaders. Everything that comes out of their mouths is consistent with their plans. They don't, for example, announce a tax cut they can't deliver, or a health care plan they haven't read up on, or a billion dollar wall they haven't spoken to any other politician about funding. If they lied about these things they'd be thrown out. Bill Clinton was impeached for lying about an affair of all things. Imagine Clinton or Obama promising a 10% tax cut during an election "as early as next week", then when it was raised the following week as promised, avoided all questions about it.and never mentioned it again. The scale of Mr Trump's lies has never been achieved before. World leaders value their legacies. They try to appear credible. Mr Trump just makes up an excuse and doesn't seem to care how it sounds. A caravan of immigrants 400 miles away is an invasion? How so? "Well, I see it as an invasion. Next question." You said you were going to release your tax returns..." "Well, It's complicated, as you know. They're under audit. They're under constant audit..." What happened to that tax cut? "Next question." Basically, no other world leader takes the voters as such fools. No other leader describes the free press as an enemy. The mid-terms showed just how well this strategy is working. Imagine, in the Senate, the Democrats got 16 million more votes. Without Republican gerrymandering, it would have been a landslide, and it was all about Donald Trump. Apart from the governors, the mid-terms were a referendum on Mr Trump. His party lost big-time. Of course people don't want to be lied to. Ever get the feeling you've been cheated? |

Tax cut - he delivered tax cuts Caravan - where ARE they going in not to the US? Some elements of the press are partisan but do not declare it. They spread distortions, That's not friendly to the people and doesn't serve them. Clinton and Obama lost bigger time in their midterms. How did Dubya do? Clinton was in for 8 years, then Dubya then O'Bama and now it will be Trump. Looks pretty even to me. The political propaganda excesses and political violence of the left is far, far worse than conservative conduct and behaviour, for obvious, temperamental reasons. As for Trump, nobody wanted him, not the Dems, not the GOP party machine, ONLY the people who actually elected him. He says and does things that should have been done and said a lot earlier and then there would not have been a need for a man like Trump. Trump is the man, the strong medicine, exactly for the times - the alternative was a choice between dynastic candidates, another Clinton or a third Bush? That's not a healthy choice for a republic that rid itself of dynastic, born-to-rulers through a revolution. Trump is the medicine, even if bitter a bit for some of the delicately nurtured. A necessary corrective. There is talk of Clinton running in 2020. That's like harkening back for Betamax. |

I see. So when Mr Trump promised a new tax cut ("as early as next week"), he forgot to say it was included in his old tax cuts. By invasion, the Commander in Chief of the worlds biggest military meant 800 immigrsnts rocking up to the US Border and asking to be let in. When Mr Trump refers to the enemy of the people, he means partisan media outlets who distort things. Sarah Huckabee Sanders was forced to use an Infowars video to prove this point. Every other president loses votes in the mid-terms. Why not Mr Trump? The mid-terms were actually a big success for him, as he said. He could have won the House if the FAKE media had reported his promises honestly, I mean, everybody's saying it. Yes, he could tone down the rhetoric a bit, he could be a really boring president. He could spend more than 4 hours a day on the job, read his briefings, consult with his cabinet, keep his appointments, stick to his agenda and stop saying dumb stuff on Twitter, but where would be the fun in that? The FAKE media would just complain if he did. The violence of the left is far worse than the right. That's because they're emotionally unstable. Take the MAGAbomber, the Synagogue shooter, that driver at the neo-Nazi protest. Where do all these violent people get their ideas from if not the left? Mr Trump is just what Amerika needs - a strong man for the times, a reality TV star who's chauffeur used to drive him around on his paper round as a kid. Mr Trump is the medicine for all Amerika's ills - social division, partisan nastyness, political corruption, Russian interference and all the celebrity FAKENESS in the media and in politics. Mr Trump will fix all these things. We will make Amerika great again, no? |

Well f.ucking duh! Of course politicians lie. But very few consistently tell lies that are so easy to disprove, and if they do they don't last too long. He even lies about inconsequential things, like his inauguration crowed, or the fact that he weighs"239" pounds. And his support base eats it up. And then you have people sending pipe bombs to news outlets because Trump has called them the enemy of the American people. The media is not your enemy, sure they can be biased and report on things that sell the most. But they are not the enemy. As Raven has said before it is opinion that Trump suffers from pronoia. Pronoia is the positive counterpart of paranoia. It is the delusion that others think well of one. Actions and the products of one's efforts are thought to be well received and praised by others. Mere acquaintances are thought to be close friends; politeness and the exchange of pleasantries are taken as expressions of deep attachment and the promise of future support. That's why Trump gave Kim Jong Un a tongue bath usually reserved for America's allies. He whispers sweet nothings in Trump's ear. It's why he firmly believes the crowd turnout at his inauguration was the biggest ever. It also why he calls major news outlets"fake news" because they have the audacity to criticize him. It's why his administration said there's a special place in hell for Justin Trudeau. This is one of their closest allies and trading partner. Trump accused Canadians of burning down the White House in 1812 when Trudeau asked Trump how tariffs on steel is a national security issue. But he is getting a rude awakening. These last two weeks have been some of the worst for his administration. His WWI fiasco in France (in which no one in his administration expected such blow back.) The First Lady lobbing a grenade from the East Wing. Fox news backing CNN's lawsuit against the White House regarding Jim Acosta and the straight up lie involving an intern. The fact is Americans should take what comes out of White House with a grain of salt. |
