Title: It would seem the carbon tax is a little too late
Post by progressiveslol on Jul 4th, 2012 at 11:47pm
City swallowed by sea level rise and we did nothing. Nothing.

It would seem us greedy people who use too much CO2 just didn't care enough for these people. Does it make you feel dirty.

The sun just sat there and didnt get any cooler. Big oil just profited.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2167731/Britains-Atlantis-North-sea--huge-undersea-kingdom-swamped-tsunami-5-500-years-ago.html#ixzz1zcq1YtGL

'People seem to think rising sea levels are  a new thing - but it’s a cycle of Earth history that has happened many many times.'

I wonder if these people were anything like our global warming deciples. I wonder if they wasted their time and energy and wealth like us on greeny projects.

No using the fireplace at any time.

They would have all died from cold or uncooked food.

Two interesting graphs.
First is sea levels over the last 542 million years showing sea levels a tad higher than now.

Second shows that sea level rise since the last ice age and shows that the rate has slowed.
So no matter what we do things will change.

So your point is what? Just because things will change we should sit on our arses and do nothing? Maybe you'd like to go back to living in a cave back in the last ice age but I kinda think learning to change our environment to suit ourselves is a Good Thing.

You would be a nutjob then. A carbon tax will not change a dam thing except for some ideologues sleeping pattern.

So no harm done then. Still beats sitting on your arse waiting for the water level to rise.

Why would I wait, I would just do something else and why would I waste my money on allowing an ideologue to change their sleeping pattern.

Exactly the thinking that has caused many of our current problems...just hold still, so the universe can revolve around you.

Something else like what? Sit around for 14 hours a day endlessly complaining that poor people aren't sufficiently subsidising your lifestyle and that a handful of people on boats are a threat to your existence in a way that you can't quite enunciate?

Oh no.. that IS what you do...  :D

Mayhap. Or you could sit around and do nothing. That seems to have worked well for 99% of the other species that have ever existed.

Ever used sunscreen, progs? Guess not, cause you cant change what the sun does.

I can. At the bottom of the line of the graph, cave men started using SUV's and the sea started to rise. 6500 years ago, the natives burned too many trees and the sea rose further after the sun cooled, oops i mean after the sea started to level off.

Venus is hotter than Mercury in spite of being almost twice the distance from the sun.

Yes, progs, it's all about the sun.

Sun and pressure of atmosphere is about all you need to worry about. A drop of piss(co2) in an olympic swimming pool is nothing to be concerned about.

What is the atmosphere pressure differences of Mercury and Venus.

But don't forget, dangerous man-made climate change has been averted. That's the main thing.
Phew!

have we stopped people drink driving? do we call the legislation a failure and remove it thereby allowing people to drink and drive?

Gillard deliberately lied to the Australian people and bought in an unconstitutional tax - I don't think she knows how serious this is. 8-)

It's too late to avert global warming. We've just gotta pray that enough other countries start pulling their weight before the runaway feedback effects kick in. To argue that our actions are not part of the problem is an insidious fallacy of composition.

Further, energy saving technologies and renewables are going to be a big part of the future. Get behind on this one and our quarry economy condemns us to irrelevancy once the rest of the world masters a better way of keeping the lights on.

Far from hampering our economy, our early shift to an ETS will ensure higher long term growth.

It has been far hotter with far more co2 in the atmosohere in the past. If there were a runaway affect, we would not be debating here on this forum today.

this 'runaway effect' is the hysterical part of the debate. there is ZERO evidence to indicate that there is anything even remotely like a tipping point or a runaway effect. The earth has many feedback responses thatregulate temperature and environmental conditiona and there is zero evidence of exceeding  that capability.

Not only is the carbon tax a little too late to save that city, it would seem we are in a cooling trend

Climate in northern Europe reconstructed for the past 2,000 years: Cooling trend calculated precisely for the first time

This is what global cooling really looks like – new tree ring study shows 2000 years of cooling – previous studies underestimated temperatures of Roman and Medieval Warm Periods

Fan-TAS-tic!

Could you remind me... just how much oil and coal were we burning in Europe 1500 years ago? I know they had that Greek fire stuff.

Must have been burning more than us if you go by the AGW group think logic.
