Trump literally (almost) shoots the messenger!

Trump has fired Bureau of Labor Statistics Commissioner Erika McEntarfer, saying the weak job numbers released today were “phony”. Hmm, tell me you're unhinged without saying so!

Sadly for him (and happily for us), the more he tries, the worse he makes it.

Here's the other problem with him firing her simply because he doesn't like the information she supplied. He may well now get erroneous information from other departments and agencies whose leaders are worried that by providing information that Trump will deem unsatisfactory (i.e. fake news), they may lose their job and in an effort to prevent this, they may fudge the data in order to please Trump and keep their job.

The problem with this is obvious - Trump will make decisions based on incorrect information and that will make existing problems worse and/or create problems where none previously existed. Unfortunately for all Americans (and to a lesser extent, other countries), this will cause real, tangible problems in their daily lives.

It's already happening. We've seen the so-called "briefings" he gets, less intelligence document, more children's pop-up book.

...

He has no interest in reading. He relies entirely on what sycophants whisper in his ear, and they, in turn, only tell him what he wants to hear.

Based on his actions, it's entirely plausible he genuinely believes that things like bad jobs numbers are "fake news", not because he's lying (though he often is), but because he's being actively misled by his own handlers, either to keep him docile or to steer policy without oversight.

At this point, he's not leading, he's a flesh-and-blood autopen, signing off on whatever the machine behind him decides, too incurious and too self-absorbed to know the difference.

He just wants to take credit for the thing they tell him are great while he gold plates everything around himself to feel like a king.

That oval office used to look very regal and classy - until Trump came in. Now he's adorned it with so much gold that it looks like a B-grade porn set from the 70's. Also, with the cost of living crisis in the US and it only going to get worse as tariffs start to bite more, is spending $200m on building a ballroom at the White House really a wise use of taxpayer funds? I thought he wanted to stop the waste? Oh, and $200m? Is the floor going to be laid with real gold bricks???

Does one spend $200 million on a ballroom if they're only going to be in the job for another 3 years, or is he telegraphing intentions to stay longer?

Exactly.

I stand by my prediction that there probably won't be an election in 2028.

"I'm doing such a good job, and everybody loves me, there's no need for an election."

All the "experts" keep saying that it's impossible for him to run for a third term, or stay in office after this term expires, because the Constitution prohibits it.

My reply to that is, how can a piece of paper stop him?

There are laws that prohibit rape - he still raped someone.

There are laws that prohibit stealing money from charities - he still did it.

There are laws that prohibit fraud - he still did it 34 times, at least.

And on and on it goes.  He's a career criminal - laws mean nothing to him.

If he wants to stay in the White House, what's gonna stop him?

Why is it that every time you're presented with a choice, engage with the actual topic or hurl some lazy, uninspired personal insult, you always default to the latter? Is it because you don't have the intellectual tools to argue the point, or are you just more comfortable slinging mud than dealing with facts? Either way, it's painfully transparent.

Why would Trump - the rapist, convicted felon, and best friend of Epstein & Maxwell - do something for the Democrats?

You mean the Democrats won't use it if they win? It is for the White House. maybe you should start a thread about Trump doing it and to then buy the White House to keep it from the Democrats. Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin
