Afghanistan ... Kabul may fall in weeks

Kabul could fall in weeks trashing 20 years of occupation and economic development of Afghanistan by the USA.

In the 1980s after the victory of the Taliban in Afghanistan, there was an opportunity for the USA and its allies to do some good. However, they chose not to.

Afghanistan is a disgraceful failure of USA diplomacy, and in fact a failure of US military power.

Australia did absolutely nothing other than what it was ordered to do by Uncle Sam.

Since WW2 the USA has believed in its military supremacy and has abandoned diplomacy in favor of dominance by international autocracy.

The USA was an ally of the Taliban in the 1970s and 1980s and the Taliban were welcomed as guests in the Reagan and George H Bush White Houses. The USA then switched to supporting a chaotic array of unprincipled drug-dealing warlords against the Taliban.

Then the USA invaded in 2001 without just cause and occupied Afghanistan for 20 years continually fighting the Taliban.

The USA missed political and diplomatic opportunities in the past and it has nothing to offer now except commiserations to those left behind in Afghanistan.

Back to reality for a moment - OsamaCo sought to set up as the over-arching command structure for Jihad (Mid East Division/Afghanistan Local Chapter) - a laughable concept given the unwillingness of the Afghan to accept control/domination by anyone from outside.... and given the way 'foreign fighters' on Jihad are treated with utter contempt by the locals, their dead bodies left out for the dogs as opposed to the recovery of Afghans and their holy burial etc.

No command structure and Osama was frankly dreaming....
