The latest on Uber

There is one legal action on foot and one about to be filed in the near future. The first is against the Qld Government, and if it succeeds, will cost the Government over $B1. The second is against Uber itself, and if that gets up (and I believe it will) ~ because it includes drivers and Licence lessees ~ will cost Uber into the $B many. The first is privately funded by individuals, the second is funded by a litigation funding giant based in London.

As an off shoot of either action, consideration is now being given to legal action against Uber drivers personally and Uber employees personallly for their participation in unlawful activity which destroyed a viable industry. I would be very worried if I was one of them as if that gets going and succeeds, it will be bankruptcy for most of them unless Uber bails them out.

I am with Taxi owners on this one....they were compelled to BUY their license .. you can guarantee the govt got their share of the cost....dont they always?...

the drivers at least it was the case had to do a taxi driving course to also get a licence to drive a cab..

now its a go for anyone....no licence of any kind....you could even be a serial murderer and become a UBER driver....

this is wrong...

even a bloody bus driver needs to do the course and get a special licence...

not all cabbies are honest and true.. but at least you could trace a cabbie....sheeze who knows who is driving a UBER??...

Moreover, they also have to have a valid driver's licence.

Anyway, cods is wrong - Uber drivers have to undergo a National Crime Check before being hired.

Oh, they also need to have Have an Omnibus - Charter Vehicle licence for their vehicle.

So, no serial murderers (everyone must undergo a National Crime Check), and they must have a valid driver's licence as well as an Omnibus - Charter Vehicle licence.
