Captain Nemo wrote on Nov 19th, 2023 at 10:26pm:

Anthony Albanese faces a new political fight over his management of the China relationship and demands to explain whether he expressed disapproval directly to Xi Jinping at APEC after a Chinese warship injured Australian navy divers in international waters.

The Prime Minister has returned from San Francisco to calls for him to reveal whether he personally raised the incident with his Chinese counterpart following a horror week in which the government was forced to capitulate to Peter Dutton’s demands for far-reaching controls over criminals released from immigration detention.

Defence experts said the close encounter was a reminder of the fragility of the government’s project to stabilise relations with China, with the opposition saying Beijing’s actions were falling short of its promise of improved relations.

The government waited until after the conclusion of APEC to reveal that divers with the Royal Australian Navy suffered minor injuries after being subjected to sonar pulses from a Chinese warship. The incident occurred in Japan’s exclusive economic zone on November 14 – a full day before the Prime Minister left to attend APEC.

Defence Minister Richard Marles said the Australian government had “expressed its serious concerns to the Chinese government” and blasted the conduct as being “unsafe and unprofessional.”

That Lee is probably the most ironic picture of the future of Australia's Legal/Political culture.
Unlike in America where a President is the stand alone 'Power'.
Here it will be the Cops (the Political 'People'), not the Prime Ministers - as the last say Power.

That sub they keep showing is a SEAL assault sub designed to carry an assault vehicle in that hump.  Oz is not getting those - but attack submarines simple.

All jokes aside - it's appalling to think how very long some of these people have been reclining in their comfortable political seats without a single thing changing for the better in this country despite their endless rhetoric.

2011 - in the stalking of Julia Gillard book - name after name.... two of them in that last cartoon..... and what has changed for the better?  Are people generally better off?  Do they all have meaningful jobs leading to meaningful futures and retirements?  Will any of those part-time casuals fit the bill for that dopey sheila from the superannuations council last night in their retirement?  will they even have Paul Keating's then astronomical sum of $300k salted away in super after costs and fees from their few hours work a week?

Where are the 'great Labor Party people' with their Australian Labor views and hearts?

Feeding off the fattest in the land forever .... as usual and as always, just like their LNP counterparts.

Talk about a country needing to divest itself of its 'political leadership' and fast.... better a few newcomers making a few errors than this disaster cemented in place....

It applies to everybody. Even though you don't want to admit it. ::)

It does.

I have no problem with demanding more details from Labor about their renewables plan.

We need to know.

But there is a great difference between the intention of the two policies.

One wants to reduce emissions and create a landscape where our energy comes from renewable sources.

The other wants to pretend to care about climate change and push Gas under the direction of their mining benefactors without any intention of actually delivering on Nuclear.

I also don't support AUKUS.

That whole sub deal from start to finish has been a mess and it's costing us billions for nothing.

But I suspect you don't want an honest chat about that given all the Liberal fingerprints all over it.

Funny how nobody cared to bring that up in the last 10 years of the Coalition Government, only to pretend to care now that Labor are in charge.

I see what you're doing...

I remember a time when we could demand more of our political leaders, no matter who was in power.

Now it seems to be that we can only demand better of Labor and when the Coalition fall short, we just point to the other side and say "but Labor".

You people criticise those who want safe spaces or talk about being precious snowflakes then you pull this poo?

You're forever trying to cast an alternative reality where none of the rules you demand others follow apply to you.

Dutton needs to provide more detail AND before the election.  We said the same thing about Albo and the referendum.

Oh but now detail doesn't matter because it's the Libs who need to provide it?

Please.

Talk about satire...

Deluded memory loss on a ludicrous scale, sad scroto.

More is demanded from Albo because he is IN power. Did you not demand more and better from Howard, Abbott, ScoMo when they were in power?

If Albo proposed replacing old coal fired plants with nuclear I would support him. I would support Adam Bandt if he proposed it. It makes sense not because WHO proposes it, sad scrots, but because the idea has merit.

I don't support AUKUS.

A stupendous amount of money to be spent on a few submarines which - let's face it - are extremely unlikely to ever see action against real enemies.

Instead, they will be used to play "war games" with the US.

My only agreement with nuclear powered subs idea is that they are superior to conventionally powered subs. IF you are going to have subs, then nuclear powered is the go, but that is a big IF. I don't see the need for them myself.

Young woman goes into the tattoo shop and asks for a portrait of Elvis on her inner thigh, after removing her skirt and panties the tattooist goes to work when he's finished the woman isn't happy so he does another portrait of Elvis on the other inner thigh, the woman is still not happy and refuses to pay, so the tattooist says, “I'll grab the first person off the street and if they don't recognise Elvis the tattoos are free.” A little old lady is walking past the shop so the tattooist asks her to take a look at the tattoos and tell me who they are, the young woman spreads her legs an the little old lady takes a good look, after several minutes she turns to the tattooist and says, “I don't know who the twins are but the one in the middle is Peter Dutton"

You're catching on ...... I only did the completed Queenslund map - the Disintegration of the over-large and cumbersome huge states from the time of colonisation - but all options are on the table...

NSW, Queensland, maybe not SA and NT and Tas Mania just yet, and WA could all be chopped up into smaller states for easier and more efficient handling, not least by disposing of their overly centralised governments in the 'capital cities' (Hunger Games style), filled with apparently effete latte drinkers with eddication etc who know everything and are sitting on fat salaries in ivory towers while dictating to the bloke struggling against the elements on a desert stock run or something or battling to find a living in what is essentially a social desert now filled with venomous snakes of all kinds, or are sitting around discussing sweeping social science concepts for the future that have no relationship with activity on the ground....

Jeez - sounds like the 'leadership' in a war, and kinda makes you wish you'd signed up for submarines for the peace and quiet, doesn't it?

The Distinguished Service Cross is hereby awarded to High Ranker Honour Baise for dedication to duty in committing the troops to direct conflict and in harm's way and in situations where instant decisions could ruin their lives upon reflection later, while ensuring that the supply of excellent coffee was always available at HQ, and that all pins were correctly moved on maps regardless of often exceptional conditions prevailing on the battlefield.  Colonel Baise' courage and dedication to duty while controlling operations from a protected base demonstrate the very best in leadership qualities expected of a high ranking officer in a combat zone.

There is a cartoon circulating in Asian circles showing malnourished Australian children eating their Christmas tree.

Another with Anthony Downers famous front page story / photo showing no lights on in North Korea trying to embarrass them

The caption translated into.
Australia Brisbane 2025 they must be very proud.

( yes they have drawn him with his fish net stocking on)

Indeed - all the chickens are coming home to roost.... all the absolute losers we've had trying to run the show with no real idea, an ideology, half a brain, and far too much comfort zone are beginning to be shown up for what they were all the time... hopeless.  The country is falling into ruin.

Albo's Grand Plan - to wake the Australian People up and restore their power in politics, restore their rightful place as those who lay down the orders etc, and to essentially overthrow the parties and their monopoly on increasingly every part of everyone's life, using the voice that he knew would fail but which would wake the sleeping giant of the people - is starting to roll.

Albo may go down in history as the Greatest Man Who Never Was - he who sought to Free The Blacks etc and failed dismally ... or he may go down in history as the Great Statesman who started the ball rolling towards a restoration of power to the people by slapping them in the face with a plan for Apartheid...... the jolt The People needed to wake them up and begin to re-assert their power .... I can't read that deeply into his mind .....but nobody could be so crazy as to actually believe in all the rot that the parties, and especially Labor, have been putting out.

I should write the book..... but I fear I lack the talent....

Remember Orwell's formless, vague and unformed concept, as espoused by Smith?  That the only real hope lay with the proles?

Albo has awakened the proles..... maybe he has a bigger plan than we are seeing........... or maybe he is just another failure as we see him ....
