What is your favourite? Do you use Steam or what? Discuss. ;) |

The only game I play is 'Bad Company' on PS3. As good as any combat game with the bonus of humour. Lee Ermey even does a voice over. Rockin' good fun-although the game cheats.

All of the Command and Conquer Series. Many of the Rome Total War games. A submariner game ("Silent Hunter 4"). Some old PC games like "Duke Nukem 3D" and "Total Annihilation". The problem being is that I have not a great deal of RAM to effectively play my computer games. My computer just plods along if I have too much on my hard drive, too. |

Legend of Zelda, Raven loved those games. Although he is currently playing the new Assassin's Creed game. It's alright.
Raven did try his hand at beating the Super Mario speed run but sadly didn't even make the top hundred. More practice required. |

I loved the new Assassin's Creed.. then a week later, absolutely hated it. Ubisoft's grubby strategy at making you "farm" in order to encourage you to buy "time saver packs" is absolutely deplorable. On principle I stopped playing, and traded my copy in. |

Title: Problem Post by UnSubRocky on Dec 30th, 2018 at 4:49pm
I have a role playing game called "Rome: Total War". Recently, the game has been shutting down in mid play, usually during the campaign map, or just after a battle has finished. I can go a few hours of playing. But sometimes, the game just shuts down before I have a chance to save before shutting down my game manually. That means that I have to use autosaves to continue the game. But, even that makes it annoying to continue.
Any ideas on what is causing this to happen? I have a Windows 10 operating system. |

The game was released in 2004. The older the game, the harder it is to run on Windows 10. I tend to get all of my older games on the Gog platform, as Gog is usually better at ensuring that a game will work on all systems. I learnt this after buying some older games on Steam and having every single one of them crash on me because my OS and system specs are too advanced for them. There may be a way to fix it. I would recommend visiting https : // pcgamingwiki . com / wiki / Rome:_Total_War (just remove the spaces. Can't post any links until I hit 100 posts) |

Title: Re: Computer Games Post by .JaSin. on Dec 31st, 2018 at 3:01pm
If you game shuts down half way, etc.
It means your 'sound card' or something isn't compatible with what the game needs. You need to Steam a more compatible version. |

Title: Re: Computer Games Post by UnSubRocky on Dec 31st, 2018 at 5:59pm
I did a recovery and reinstalled the game on my computer. Now I am just having trouble playing a game with lower graphics and such. I did have a great game working beforehand with all the graphics at the highest settings, etc. Now it is all amateurish.

Most recent I was playing Alien Isolation with my daughter. little while ago now but we still re visit it occasionally.
The story line is Ripley's daughter goes looking to find out what happened to her mother, you can guess who she finds. There was a big push for this to be the next Alien movie before the last one was done. (This would have been better). The other main computer game project we had was the whole of the Myst series. Beautiful games. My daughter was young when we started this series. Both are almost impossible. |

Ah! the Myst series ... loved those, some of the puzzles were very difficult to work out. I'm replaying Half Life 2 at the moment, a gift from my son. I like Sniper Elite 2, 3, 4 and 5 also. I prefer to take my time doing stealthy attacks in those. Return to Castle Wolfenstein and later versions are a bit of fun. Tomb Raider series are also some favorites, although the latest one is a bit buggy. (Shadow of the Tomb Raider). I liked Rise of the Tomb Raider and Tomb Raider "reboot" better. |

ATTENTION PC GAMERS (OR ANYBODY INTERESTED IN PC GAMING)
If anybody, like myself, has previously had frustration and impatience with the art of modding so gave up completely, I encourage you to try Vortex - modding made easy. https://www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/1 (FYI modding = modifying a game to improve it whether it be for cheats, better graphics, bug fixes etc). Vortex automatically picks up on "mod conflicts" (where two mods are incompatible and don't work in games) and sets the mods in the correct loading order. It's only in Beta stage but so far it's running smoothly for me, no dramas. I am having a blast with Fallout 3, which, without mods, is quite bland and outdated. Nexus has a list of games with mods available for them. P.S be careful. Scan files before downloading, etc. |

I can usually beat it on the highest level 10. It's one of the weakest programs out there but is good for anyone from a beginner to a medium player. Anyone could beat level 1. |

The schitt thing about gog.com is that I cannot remember my email password of old to be able to acquire a security code to get access to my old account with gog. They have games of Duke Nukem on steam for $3. But I will have to go buy a temporary credit card to be able to buy a copy. |

Title: Re: Computer Games Post by UnSubRocky on Aug 6th, 2020 at 9:04pm
I gave up on trying to get my old game reinstalled and decided to go buy another one. The problem being that I found that the game requires a credit card to purchase. The EB Games store told me to buy a Steam voucher to be able to purchase the games online. I then found out that the game I wanted (first thought to be about $5) was $29.95. What the hell? It actually featured a new level that was only made in the last few years. So, screw that.

Just the other day, I heard my DVD ROM clicking back into usage. Now I have 2 different versions of Silent Hunter 4. Duke Nukem 3d was purchased as an impulse buy. Got the new level installed. New features for the game. Already finished the episode. Need a new game to challenge me. |

The idea is to go an have a look around stores tomorrow and see if there are any gaming machines for the Sega Mega Drive Mini. For now, I have the Nintendo Mini and the Supernintendo Mini at home here. The guy I messaged on marketplace has not responded to my message about him selling his Sega to me. The best bet for me is to just look around the stores and then wait for other sellers online to offer, if there are no stores with the gaming console.

I got caught up in a game on my iPhone. "Fishdom". It is a match 3 game where the more you match the more you win until you get to run out of moves.
I added a gift visa card to the game so that I could buy more boosters and redemption moves. I am in debt to the game by about $70 inside a month. Have I become suckered into the gaming experience? |
