It sounds good, but it's only an executive order and Trump has issued nearly 200 of them this year. In his first term he signed 220 of them. So yeah, it sounds nice from the perspective of veterans but it's by no means a guarantee it will happen and with this being Trump we're talking about, I wouldn't hold my breath.

My initial reaction is "Yay! Trump did something good!".  This is fabulous, i've been waiting for ages for him to use his platform to do some good. All i've seen to date is a horrifying shitshow.

I suppose this explains how despite all reason, Trump is so ardently defended. It's simple partisanship. It's all about sides and not a bit about substance.

But i don't see any of that coming from the left, nor the right wing posters like Sprint and AP who call Trump out. There's just a few of you ... and you're all dodgy as hell.

I don't know about you, dear, but I recall a time when the big fella said it was impossible for the federal government to impose health restrictions, prevent local gatherings or even encourage the wearing of masks.

Public health and safety, if you'll recall, was strictly in the domain of state and local ordinances, and even then, subject to Constitutional provisions like the right to attend political rallies, spread infectious diseases and, as many went on to do, dear, die.

So no, while the lefties may not have any problems with housing veterans, institutionalizing the deranged and locking up the druggies, I think you'll find responsible "noble righties" will beg to differ with their DL.

Or maybe not. Perhaps they'll just abandon every principle they ever expressed here and obey.

The big fella famously started a charitable foundation to help veterans, do you remember? Prior to his meme coin venture, he went around collecting for veterans. Anyone who wanted to help could give the big fella a nice big cheque, a tax free gift to the Trump Foundation. Every little bit helps, the big fella said.

The state of New York started sniffing around and found he'd spent all the money paying off his unpaid legal settlements, the refurbishment of two of his elite country clubs, a million dollar prize he'd refused to pay out to a guy who got a hole in one, and two Trump portraits that went to auction and didn't sell.

New York sued for damages. The Trump Foundation was shut down, the big fella was banned from running any future charitable foundations in the state of New York.

So unfair, no? Still, the big fella wanted to help the veterans so much, he offered his presidential salary over to the Department of Veterans Affairs. He did this for three years until he discovered they spent some of the money on veterans, decided he was getting ripped off and kept his final year's salary.

This time round, he sent DOGE in, slashed Veteran's Affairs and decided to give his friends a tax cut instead.

So yes, Mother, next time you hear how much the big fella cares about veterans, you'll know.
