It was a pretty large number of Muslims, many hundreds

How do you know what everyone's religion is?

Was it reported anywhere in the MSM?

I haven't seen anything.

Why not?

Why?

What's newsworthy about hundreds of people with a bad fashion sense?

They were beating their chests as they stood facing the cathedral.
Shites. One of the two main rival branches of the Sons of Mohamed.

Again, how do you know what religion they were?

And, is it now illegal - and somehow newsworthy - to beat your chest?

What the hell is wrong with you?  Seriously?

From what I can tell it was an annual street march to celebrate Ashura that went past the Cathedral. Ironically enough, Ashura celebrates when the Israelites were saved from the Egyptians by Moses parting the red sea.

Yeah, I think you might be right.

The first part of the video shows people walking past the cathedral with a banner.

Towards the end of the video, when you look closely, there's a line of people with their backs to the cathedral and another line of people facing the cathedral - so the two groups are face to face.

The people facing the cathedral are swinging their arms back and forth (in particular, the man with the long grey coat).

I've slowed the video down to 1/4 speed and I can't see anyone being violent, or anyone acting in an intimidating manner.

There are some kids walking by with mobile phones, and a few adults on mobile phones too.

I really don't understand what all the fuss is here, except for the puffer jackets - they're an abomination.

Maybe if the Commanchero Bikie gang did the same in celebration of their victory over the Banditos at that spot, people might think they were just being peaceful too?
Reputation precedes Muslim gatherings these days. It's a justified stereotype discrimination for obvious reasons. Only fools think otherwise.

Apparently it was the shites marching.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashura

Quote:
By contrast, for Shia Muslims, Ashura is a day of mourning as they annually commemorate the death of Husayn ibn Ali, grandson of the Islamic prophet Muhammad and the third Shia imam. Husayn refused on moral grounds to pledge his allegiance to the Umayyad caliph Yazid ibn Mu'awiya (r. 680–683) and was subsequently killed, alongside most of his male relatives and his small retinue, by the Umayyad army in the Battle of Karbala on Ashura 61 AH (680 CE).

You're comparing a group involved in organised crime with a bunch of people with bad taste in fashion.

Puffer jackets are bad, but they can't seriously be compared to drug importation & distribution and money laundering.

SBS has put a positive spin on it, of course. The reporter and a few talking heads are hijabi women and girls but the marchers, the chanters, the chest beaters are all men.
And they say they want to show that there is nothing to be concerned about regarding Islzm.
They achieved the exact opposite.
Like they did at the Oiera House in October 2023 and most weekends since then.

Frightening stuff.

Puffer jackets and mourning.

No wonder Gordon and Frank are so scared.

This is the only MSM mention of such a demo.

Why is it hushed up if it's such a 'feel good' story?
