Re Socks’ head. Appears to be bigger than whippet/greyhound heads in proportion to body size.

Maybe this gives Socks more weight/volume of brain per kilo of bodyweight? It takes more than speed to grab the lure in full flight! Socks had nearly grabbed the lure several times before the last meet—her incredible speed accounts for some of that but I think her intelligence is a big part of that.

Next meet is this Saturday. See what happens.

Each one records an animal’s life getting much better. I think that is better than “cute” videos. Do you?

It is weird: Socks would happily play in the shallows of that pool all day, if she got pushed to the deep part—she would cry, would panic! She LOVES running in shallow water, river or the surf at the beach but as the water rises she gets hysteric!

I do not know why this is. Socks was 19 weeks old when I adopted her or, maybe, when she arrived at the pound. She was at the pound for 4-6 weeks as I remember reading about a staghound being available for adoption and I pictured a huge hound capable of taking down a stag!

Like all stray puppies I think—and have evidence for—Socks was mistreated, tortured! at a previous home. This beautiful, sweet natured puppy—mistreated! Just like 8 week old Demi had been hit with books or whatever to hand.

Three years of love and boundaries and I am sure Socks has recovered, I think from a toddler pulling her tail mercilessly, no doubt encouraged by doting parents. Puppies do NOT stray for no reason.

I encourage people to adopt a dog from the RSPCA but also warn them the dog strayed to get away from an unendurable situation.

Anybody else have experience with adopted strays?

How the hell can people abandon pets like this? Councils, animal shelters etc will take all unwanted animals. Thank goodness for people who rescue abandoned animals and those who adopt them.

Obviously, the Booby–level moron who abandoned mama dog and puppies never thought to desex his female dog.
