I asked hubby last night… how much did the legal fees come to after all that time …

Then I found this article…

How a $2 million bequest paid for the best defence killer cook could buy

And….. is this humane? Despite contemptuous opinions against Erin during the whole trial…I didn’t know of this unacceptable treatment….
I love the advice and quote from the defence lawyer, much respect.

My personal opinion is that she's insane.

She should have pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.

I’m going to agree with you on this.
She needs help, not just a good defence lawyer… I shudder to think how she will cope on the inside with other inmates.
Re: the money… I recall reading how she had lent big sums of money out… seems other people took advantage of her.

The church group Erin was in and people of the township are not in hate mode,
and have forgiveness in their heart… and some even feel sorry for her.
She was easy pickings for such a horrid big media circus and court case.
I think she is just a very simple misguided not very bright person.
A bit like a child that got caught doing something naughty and lied about it as some children do.

No - she used to have a high IQ job as an air traffic controller.

She is an evil, cunning manipulator of other people
and a cruel mass murderer.
Even our maximum penalty available cannot be enough justice for her.

You sound like you know her personally! What is her IQ scale?

She’s a country hick, simple township folk and to date had no criminal wrongdoing.

If she had such a high IQ…. Why is she in such a sordid mess…. Not very well planned out IMO.

Being super-smart doesn't mean a person has all the abilities and experience to deal with every situation - often the opposite.  That's why we're called the Civilised Tribes - people have been sneaking up on us for centuries now..

What you say here does point out that she could easily be simply a lost soul, as her defence contended.. I said already that there can never notbe some degree of doubt.... so it's a question of the weight of evidence one way or the other - a sort of 'balance of probabilities' on steroids...

It IS possible that all the things she claimed did happen the way she says they must have - the question is - is it PROBABLE?

The musings of an intelligent person trying to work out how something could have happened must not be mistaken for making up a story... intelligence dictates that the person try to work out the hows and whys...

The p-spike herself says she has not formally interviewed Patterson... and we all know from my first book how p-spikes are often out of touch with the real world.   School - uni - into a job determining issues for people they've never met and who live in a different world where sometimes truth is stranger than fiction ... sums it up for the Veteran community at large, for example....

Beware the ideas of march hares ....

The quality of mercy is not strained;
It droppeth as the gentle rain from heaven
Upon the place beneath. It is twice blest;
It blesseth him that gives and him that takes:
'T is mightiest in the mightiest; it becomes
The throned monarch better than his crown:
His sceptre shows the force of temporal power,
The attribute to awe and majesty,
Wherein doth sit the dread and fear of kings;
But mercy is above this sceptred sway;
It is enthronèd in the hearts of kings,
It is an attribute to God himself;
And earthly power doth then show likest God's
When mercy seasons justice. Therefore, Jew,
Though justice be thy plea, consider this,
That, in the course of justice, none of us
Should see salvation: we do pray for mercy;
And that same prayer doth teach us all to render
The deeds of mercy.

“ Erin Patterson complained she was denied a doona and pillow while being held in her prison cell, as well as access to her own laptop and charger.”

Yeah.

I definitely believe that prisoners should have basic access to a blanket and possibly a pillow.

A doona and laptop and charger?

She is obviously insane

Random question but I think if she wrote a cookbook it  sell , especially if she autograph it!

Just saying, she could earn more than her prison guards salary in a month than they earn in a year?

P.s following this judgement I know a few men who have come home to find the wife/ girlfriend/ female housemate has been shopping.

And brought mushrooms that they placed centre in the fridge!
I always share my meal with the cat, I think it’s safer that way😳

I have something for you to read if you really believe that.

Who is Erin Patterson, the host of Australia's infamous mushroom lunch?

Can't. Proceeds from crime would make sure she received not a cent.

Good article how all this money came to be!

And this I believe her work colleagues say…

"I think that she is clever. She's crafty, but she's not as clever as she thinks."

All that intelligence around her…..yet foiled it all …. fumbling, and wouldn’t intelligence tell one that putting any left over poison in the bin… the cops will surely check it!
I don’t even put anything with our details, name etc in the bin… I rip that stuff to shreds and plonk it in the fireplace.
All this talk she is smart, intelligent etc. yet I don’t see it.

I see where she got the idea she lied about having cancer… both her parents died of cancer.
Was she the family cook then too?

Grin
I’ve had a mushroom fetish lately!
Hubby says after tonight’s tv doco about it “I don’t want to have mushrooms ever again”
So there we have it…. Mushrooms now have a bad rap.

I'm not sure that she is clinically insane - though certain of her behaviours MAY indicate that she is somewhere on the autism scale - something not unusual in highly intelligent individuals.  There is a sort of disconnection between actions and results/outcomes - she complained about lack of adequate bedding while on remand (and other things) - those are reasonable complaints..... maybe not having her own laptop all the time, but still... that tends to show at least a slight disconnect from harsh reality.

I personally have a genius IQ - estimated by DVA at 150+ - though I don't believe any organisation that consecutively says I'm sane...... and I lack certain social connection skills ... NOBODY has absolute control over what social interaction 'phrases' they use and nobody has complete knowledge and understanding of those things... we all have our blind spots..... and highly intelligent people CAN be more prone to deep internalised thinking, and thus may appear to be what my sister once described me as - an absent-minded professor ....

Such things are easily misunderstood... and can be misconstrued for public viewing.. distorted beyond belief...

Maybe she just thought she would teach the bastards by making them sick...... maybe she just didn't think through the actual outcomes... most people don't when dealing with 'new ground' and there are countless personal factors that can influence an individual's ability to think through things.

NOBODY can grow up knowing how to handle every single thing - and most things are learned by 'mine detecting' - if you lack proper guides and guidelines, you step forward and only when you step on a mine do you realise you have made a mistake.

Maybe she had poor parenting herself and did not 'know the ropes' and over a lifetime struggled to find the right ways by default - by making mistakes, as so many do.

Been there - done that.

Some of that fits with what I was just discussing.... not all...
