There's hardly any difference between Russia and Ukraine, Ukraine and Belorus, Belorus and Russia. Which one nominally controls which bit of territory is of zero interest to the rest of the world. They were all part of the same empire for hundreds of years.

And so Europe, while huffin' and puffin', kept buying Russian gas and oil and sending money and weapons to Ukraine to fight the Russkis.

Did Europe want to actually defeat Russia? No. Just theatre.

America saw an opportunity to poke the Russians in the eye at no cost to America, so they sent over money and weapons. Did they expect to defeat Russia? Of course not. Just theatre. Bit of harmless sanctions, bit of tut tutting.

Ukraine - did they expect to defeat Russia? Well, not defeat, just push them back behind an arbitrary border and then continue to monster the efnik Russians on their side of said border. Would the Ukrainians kept up this war without western money and weapons? No.

What really matters is - what is the West prepared to stand up for AND FIGHT FOR.

Putin announced his intention to restore the USSR to its former glory in the early 2000's and has been working towards that goal ever since and now with the assistance of Trump.
