Hurricane
Oct 1st, 2024 at 4:29pm

Eastern Tennessee and western North Carolina are cut off in part because the entirety of the western world has bet its future on the "smart" phone. And, as millions of Americans are learning, in today's world if you haven't got cell service you haven't got nuffin' - and those telephones are fragile and vulnerable not only to hurricanes but also to cyber-shutdowns and EMP attacks.

Ah, but as Politico tuts:

Trump drags Hurricane Helene into 2024 campaign

Yeah, because, unlike Katrina, this hurricane is nothing to do with whoever's running the executive branch of the United States. As to who precisely that is, all we can say for certain is that it's not Joe Biden, because he's focused on collective bargaining in Yemen, and Kamala Harris, because nobody would put her in charge of anything.  Well, except for half the voters in the United States.
...

Significant proportions of eastern Tennessee, which has a GOP governor, and western North Carolina, which has a Dem governor, are underwater and cut off from the rest of the planet. But the national media's priority is to get Harris and Walz across the finish line in five weeks' time, and covering what the BBC calls scenes of "biblical devastation" with thousands of residents missing would not be helpful to that. So no need for Joe Biden to leave his Delaware beach house and give a press conference while wearing a butch bomber jacket, or to appoint Kamala his "hurricane czar":

Two states are underwater, Americans are stranded without food or supplies, and Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are completely AWOL.

If those numbers hold up, expect a lot more of western North Carolina in your future.
https://www.steynonline.com/14675/underwater-in-north-carolina-and-michigan

When the going gets tough, the tough get going ...elsewhere. In Tennessee, on the day the hurricane blew in, 700 National Guard troops were deployed ...to Kuwait, to take part in some waste-of-time military exercise organised by a Pentagon that hasn't won anything since VJ Day and takes twenty years to lose to goatherds with fertiliser. Ukraine matters, union disputes in Yemen matter, the millions swarming across the Rio Grande to be resettled across the fruited plain matter. But Maui, East Palestine, and rural North Carolina don't matter.

.......... Kemp and White House officials confirmed Monday that Biden spoke to the governor on Sunday to offer support as the state sorts through the damage from Hurricane Helene.

“He just said, ‘Hey, what do you need?’” Kemp told reporters of his call with Biden. “And I told him, you know, we got what we need. We will work through the federal process. He offered that if there’s other things we need, just to call him directly, which, I appreciate that. But we’ve had FEMA embedded with us since, you know, a day or two before the storm hit.”        .........

Parroting misinformation from thefederalist this time?

You should look at what the governors from the impacted states have been saying, their direct quotes before you just swallow the lie that the Federal Government have been AWOL.

Just because Biden or Harris haven't negatively impacted the relief effort by visiting right now and diverting resources for their security, to what, throw paper towels into the crowd, does not mean they're AWOL...

It's really not hard to find the truth, if you in fact care about it.

How many humiliating own goals can one poster make here?

Surely you're the record holder Frank...  Well done.

Bush was criticized for not returning to Washington, D.C. from his vacation in Texas until after Wednesday afternoon, more than a day after hurricane Katrina hit on Monday.
Sco Mo was criticised for not immediately returning from holiday and picking up the hose when the 2019 fires started.

But noticing that Biden and Harris being AWOL is 'disinformation".

When your OWN self-righteos pouting criticisms are applied to your side of politics you immediately scuttle for excuses and squeal 'disinformation'. Laughable.

Firstly, they were on vacation, Biden is doing his actual job.

So it is misinformation because they're not AWOL.  Biden has offered to go to Georgia and other impacted areas so long as it wouldn't hamper the rescue and recovery efforts and Governor Kemp had told them that they have everything they need and right now isn't the right time to visit while they're still in the early stages, still rescuing people.

These are republican governors thanking Biden and the Federal Government despite Trump and his cultists parroting Trump's lie that Biden and Harris are AWOL and "he's having a hard time getting the President on the phone and they're being non-responsive".

Biden is better working on things the Federal Government can actually do, like approving the major disaster declaration for Noth Carolina and making sure there are low cost loans for home and businesses without insurance.

On top of that there have been emergency declarations for Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee with aid packages approved by Biden to help everyone there, red or blue.

But sure, he should go to the disaster zones right now, hamper the rescue and recovery efforts trying to accommodate his security so he can throw paper towels at people.

FEMA, the DOE, they're all on the ground working with their local counterparts to restore energy to the impacted areas with HHS providing supplies and personnel, the USACE are working on dams and emergency power as well as the US&R sending 2000+ personnel to help with search and rescue.

What would you prefer, Biden get a Trump style photo opp?

...

...

Nice way to exploit a destroyed business to build a podium to platform lies about Biden being unreachable.

Already debunked by the Govenor the state Trump pushed the lie,

So they're not AWOL, and you've been caught spreading misinformation again.  Now that you've been told, if you continue to push this narrative now that you know the truth, you'll be exposed as straight up lying, again.

Do better.

Hurricane Helene's devastation is a Katrina-like disaster and our leaders are AWOL.

President Joe Biden, if he is still president, is on vacation and Vice President Kamala Harris is campaigning.

The media is giving them a pass.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is doing the work.
https://x.com/CarmineSabia/status/1840471084145004978

Kamala Harris is so freaking lost talking about Hurricane Helene

This is pitiful.

She has NO IDEA what’s going on.

I never seen  or heard such an idiot quite like her in my life and she’s running for commander and chief of the free world

She should step down

Obviously she can’t handled disasters or crisis or anything else for that matter

She was never viable and never wlll be

As proven time and time again.
