Cook's parting words to them were -"Don't do anything until I get back" .....

they kept their word ..... couldn't even make some new spears.

Plenty of sticks lying around.
But they wanted these back because they are too lazy to make new ones.

Is this another Topic by Virtue-Signalling BriYawn to antagonise a reaction from others that he can virtue-signal himself over?
...not that he ever ventures a personal opinion to what he posts.  Wink

So what?  What is the 'spiritual' significance of a few spear heads?  WGAF?

Let's just all agree that Ngunnawanya has the RIGHT to claim spiritual essence in spear heads even if there is none.  It could be a symbol of his struggle with oppression!

More a symbol of his struggle with sanity - like some sheila who hears whale songs, and another who says a rock in a creek can never be moved in case it has a spirit in it... imagine the whole country run by those values....

This is the problem with ab0s to a tee. Rudimentary hunter gatherers who made next too nothing so they obsess over the most basic things like a spear. A sharpened stick.

What is the story with them. It's said in the article they were "stolen" and
Quote:
"You've got journals that talk about the violence on that day and the theft of those spears, this is the tangible evidence that this happened."

So why not put the evidence, the story of their acquisition, in the article? Does any one know the story? Brian? Evidence of theft?

And not really sharp at that.
Obviously the knowledge of spear making had been lost by Cook’s time; sad to see such a progressive and inventive people being reduced to making such inefficient weapons.

The natives attacked - they lost - their spears were taken to prevent them attacking with them again... no biggie at all in any way.,

The theft took place on April 29, 1770, after Cook and his men landed in Kamay, a region now called Botany Bay. There, they encountered members of a clan of the Dharawal people known as Gweagals. The Gweagal men were armed with spears, which they shook at the intruders. When they refused to stand down, Cook’s party shot at them.

After the Gweagal men retreated, Cook’s party stole the spears from their homes.

In Eden - there is an original bark hut for a White family, brought down from the Snowies.... family used to live in it while oppressing the locals... you know... living the life of White privilege with dad on the road somewhere with a swag, sleeping rough, looking for some work to survive on ... maybe not making it home again ...

I think a lot of people today need a good foot up the arse.... maybe a training run through that kind of thing... OK - here's your part slab and part bark home for Winter... now you've got until sunset to get your firewood in and get your fire going... I'll take those sleeping bags... your blankets are over there....  what did you bring to eat?  No canned stuff etc.... where's your sheep and flour?

They might learn a few things... now watch one of the TV channels take up that idea... they read this stuff you know.

Freediver should cop royalties.... gonna git me some o' dat Wharte privilege dere... some day soon... only bin waitin' 74 Far Ken years...

The aborigines are lucky that the British took those spears. That way they have been carefully preserved.  All the aboriginal spears taken by rival tribes have disappeared without a trace.

Thank God for the British Empire, what?
