It's the big news at a time when Israel and the UK and the US and Syria and Lebanon and Iran are on the brink.... and some are even suggesting that the Russian zombie might rise from the ashes of Ukraine and the Chinese Fat Boy get off its arse ....

I think they'll sit back and watch as Iran sinks in the East..... and has a new government installed... at which point the Russian and Chinese 'entrepreneurs' will flock to the corpse to grab a few chunks of loose meat hanging off the remains...  Day Of The Hyenas....

Bobby - Nope I've never watched a Steven Seagall movie in my life.

Well - taking on someone with a knife with your bare hands is very difficult and too dangerous.
That's why the cops shoot them instead.

It's normal for Armaguard to carry cannons. The pollies are talking about open, democratic Oz with no police state. So why can't shop security guards be trained, with pistols locked away?
Access would be quicker than 000 call to riot squad. Maybe it would be voice code by phone from 2 people to unlock the guns.

I think the security guards at shopping centers should be armed with pistols
but it would take a hell of a lot of vetting and training
otherwise it could go horribly wrong with innocent people being shot -
when caught in the crossfire.

Low-paid, poorly-trained, sleep-deprived, bored security guards armed with a weapon.

Yeah, what could possibly go wrong?

Yes, like the Lindt cafe shootout at midnight in a small concrete office. Then we can go to plastic bullets.

Who's gonna pay for their training and the doubling or tripling of their wages?

Take the cost from 7 funerals, 12 hospital cases, riot squad, 69 ambulances, shop closed for days.

I went to a large shopping center in Melbourne today -

unfortunately I saw no security guards and no cops.

We're all sitting ducks for the next attack.

The billionaires who own the shopping centers.
Have you any idea what they charge the shopkeepers for rent?
Most shopkeepers use 6 out of 7 days takings just to pay the rent.   Shocked

At Lindt cafe, Officer A fired a total of 17 rounds, and Officer B fired 5 additional rounds. 1 terrorist. Firing at random would have got him by richochets.

And if well-trained, armed security guards are employed who do you think will end up paying for it - Westfield, or the shop owners (in the way of further rent increases)?
