This place, Greg.

https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/

I'm also a member there but I haven't posted for ages.

The moderating is very strict but I also suspect there's a lot of 'digital vigilantes' there who have nothing better to do than report posts all day (using the "herring" button).  Roll Eyes

it's the strictest forum in the world -

you can't say anything unless it sounds like a narrator on the ABC.    Grin

True, Bobby.

This is me at Whirlpool:

https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/user/809812

I've only had one post out of 197 deleted ("hidden by a moderator") about 3 years ago for allegedly being off topic (which I still say wasn't but meh...).

I'm just trying to imagine how much of a workout the Report button would get here at OzPol if it were turned on, which it obviously isn't.

All forum software has an option for a Report button for every post (except for your own posts, of course).

lol... that reminds me of Peter Holland who used to read the ABC Channel 2 news in Perth at 7pm.

One evening in 1991 I was waiting to catch a bus home at the stop in Adelaide Terrace opposite Fairlanes Bowl (which was next door to the ABC studios).

Anyway... it was about 7:35pm and I saw this man carrying a briefcase crossing the road and I knew it was Peter Holland as soon as I saw him (he must have just finished work).

He came up to me at the bus stop, said hello and asked me if I'd seen the 306 bus.

I said "it just went past a couple of minutes ago" and he said "Ah,  f--- it!!!" (the buses only ran about every half hour at that time of the evening back in those days from memory).

I had to struggle really hard not to burst out laughing because up until then I'd only seen him read the news on TV and he was always so eloquent and composed when he was doing it.

The bus I was waiting for came a minute or two later but I was still chuckling to myself all the way home.

Grin Grin Grin

This is Peter Holland some years later (about 1998 I believe) after he'd left the ABC and gone to Channel 9.

Yes.   I lived in Perth—Greenwood, when it was in the bush—
from 1973 to 1985.  We had wallabies and the occasional emu
in bushland 100 metres from our front fence LOL.

Holland was a top voice in broadcasting.      Cool

It's a forum for discussing consumer goods/products.

Not for politics & general.

Yep.

But, I believe there are 'hidden' subforums there where you can discuss things like politics and Covid, etc. but you have to request access to them.

You may also need to have a certain number of posts (could be something like 50 or 100) before you can request access. Not too sure.

Edit: here it is..

https://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/wp_normalusers

Quote:
When you become Forum Regular you will be granted access to In the News, a discussion area for news and politics. It is intentionally hidden for new users as it can be a more challenging posting environment than other forums, due to the topics discussed.

Forum Regular — 400 posts and 6 months membership or 200 posts and 1 year membership

lol.. I need 3 more posts there to gain access (I have 197).

I have seen wallabies on my blocks! I let one hop to the backyard while distracting Socks who would have chased it if free.
