...I thank God that my parents chose Sydney as their home base back in the 60's. They arrived as teenagers from Sth Europe and worked hard to achieve their hopes and dreams. Sydney was and still is the only city in Australia where jobs are in plentiful supply and you can make serious money (esp out of residential and commercial property).
Melbourne Victoria has NEVER EVER been able to match that. And under DANdruff ... it never will.
Oh well Victorians .... SUFFER OR LEAVE. These are your options. Enjoy!

https://www.finder.com.au/cost-of-living-comparisonThanks to Victoria's Labor government, Melbourne is a far cheaper
place to live than Sydney.
And as far as job vacancies go, NSW and Victoria are pretty
much on par (August 2022):
Proportion of businesses reporting vacancies in NSW = 28.9%
Proportion of businesses reporting vacancies in VIC = 27.1%

https://www.farandwide.com/s/most-livable-cities-in-the-world-b991bf5abeb74716This ranking is again largely due to the competence of the Labor government
and Dan Andrews over the past eight years. And of course the political disaster
that was Gladys Berejiklian, who was forced to resign in disgrace didn't help
NSW prosper—hence the high cost of living there.
