I agree that
some of the police tactics were unnecessarily violent,
targetted, and showed poor training and skills in crowd control.
But, having said that, a cobbled together montage of video clips,
captured on different days at different locations, and carefully
edited does create a picture worse than the actuality. Of course
the lockdown protesters—at that time—were potentially putting
other peoples' lives at risk by publicly flouting lawful commends
from the police, an offence in itself.
If the protesters—who of course had a legal right to protest—had
obeyed those commands, then none would've been capsicum sprayed,
dragged forcefully to the ground, injured, or ended up in police cells.
It needs bearing in mind too that a notable part of this protest, and
in fact most local protests, involves the inclusion of the "rent-a-crowd"
mob who turn up simply to provoke police, and provide a loud, very
vocal centrepoint in order to urge on the more pacifist of protesters.
