Albo's integrity commission to operate in secret
Sep 28th, 2022 at 4:42pm

You heard it first from Bobby -

Albo's secret commission -
it won't be on TV.

https://www.macrobusiness.com.au/2022/09/lol-albos-mighty-integrity-commission-t...

Well, that escalated quickly.
One minute Albo was everybody’s probity hero, the next he’s just another corrupt hack:

Albo’s mighty integrity commission to operate in secret?

In short, it will be an integrity commission operating in secret.

So when ScoMo gets called before the commission we won't get
to see him squirm in his chair trying to cover up for
all those victims who died after getting fake Robodebt invoices.
It's nice how the pollys protect each other from public scrutiny.

NSW ICAC
'When considering whether to hold public inquiries and/or compulsory examinations, the ICAC must take into account the public interest, as required under sections 30 and 31 of the Independent Commission Against Corruption Act 1988 ("ICAC Act"). A decision to hold a public inquiry must be made by the Chief Commissioner and at least one other Commissioner, pursuant to section 6(2) of the ICAC Act'.

So maybe they will, maybe won't. The lords move in mysterious ways.

This is to avoid the so-called 'show trials' which condemn a person under investigation before any charges can be laid.

Investigations to be kept under wraps - not trials.

What restrictions has alboGov put on it re investigatory rights and powers?  No government is going to willingly build a possible future rod for its own back......

OOOOH!  A Star Chamber...

It's Labor saying to the Libbos - you scratch our back and we'll scratch yours.
These pollys don't want the common people to know what they did.

Anyone who trusts the judiciary is either a fool or has a fool for an advisor....

Evidence heard in camera means that it is entirely up to the integrity of the commission who and what goes to trial.... and that's leaving out political influence......  anyone appointed by government can be removed by government, and thus feels, without it being spoken, that they must abide by the will of that government.... either that or they are an 'old boy/girl' - being Labor it will be an Old Girl   Roll Eyes  and important issues will be settled over a drink in the Special Farces Club.... between probably old lovers at uni or something...

FFS.... nothing changes....

If the Commission is given powers by plmt. to investigate, then plmt itself must have those powers. The pollies are paid $xyz +$zyx. Most sit there doing what all day.  How's about the parties do the digging and investigating instead of TV, newspapers and whistle blowers who get sued for their efforts?

Maybe there could be a negative Commission: a ruling can be made that something should be a policy secret, and otherwise it's all public property.
