It's far worse than that.

Pachelbel's Canon in D Major has influenced music through its simplicity and repeated bass line. Here are some examples:

In My Life - Remastered 2009
The Beatles

Whatever - Remastered
Oasis

Basket Case
Green Day

......

Here's another one I heard in Indonesia. It doesn't annoy me quite so much. It has a certain innocence:

Mencintaimu
Setulus hatiku
Tak pernah kuberharap lebih darimu

Hatiku slalu
inginkan kamu
Meski kau tak sempurna dimata lainnya
Kutrima kekuranganmu
Yang kumau hanya hatimu hatimu

Kutrima kekuranganmu
Kusyukuri kelebihanmu
Karna ku memang sayang kamu
Kutrima kekuranganmu
Kusyukuri kelebihanmu
Karna ku memang sayang kamu

Rough Translation:
I love you -or you are my love (actually more poetic- difficult to translate)
Sincerely my heart
I never expected more from you

My heart always wants you
Even though you're not perfect in the eyes of others
I accept your shortcomings
All I want is your heart your heart

I accept your shortcomings
Grateful for your strengths
Cause I really love you
I accept your shortcomings
Grateful for your strengths
Cause I really love you

As I said previously, a galliard is intended to be danced (they tended not to hold hands like in the video). They typically danced palm to palm, close but apart.

The resolution to a major chord at the end of a cadence is characteristic of mean-tone temperament. It's not quite the same in modern equal temperament. Early music tends to sound sad or less "bright", because the major thirds are located about a Pythagorean comma lower (about half a semitone), closer to the minor third.
