I guess the death of the Queen of another country doesn't really affect
me one way or another. I suppose it's sad for the English population who
seemed to adore her beyond any reasonable expectations—after all she
was merely an ineffectual figurehead for 70 years. She never actually did
anything of note in any
meaningful sense—nothing that in reality accomplished
anything for the UK, or the rest of her "colonies".
She last visited Australia 11 years ago, which is indicative of her lack of
genuine interest in one of those British colonies.
Australia is a constitutional monarchy and our head of state (is) was the
Queen—which is (was) absurd. On the advice of the Prime Minister, the
Queen merely appointed the Governor-General, her representative in
Australia, and he or she was simply another ultimately useless figurehead.
We only have to look at the currently lamentable actions of David Hurley,
or further back to the unwarranted actions of the late John Kerr in 1975.
That the Queen effectively condoned and authorised the dismissal of the
democratically-elected Whitlam government was appalling, and, disturbingly,
it could happen again during the King Charles III reign
This is precisely the time for us to propose, research and hold a plebiscite
in order to determine the procedure for electing/appointing our own
genuinehead of state, and totally abandoning any/all ties with the UK monarchy.
I also have very little respect for Charles. I'm fairly horrified at the thought
of this intellectually-challenged, inbred dullard having any sort of control
or influence over the direction Australia takes in our future.
The first thing Charles needs to do, or should do, is to abolish the position
of the Australian Governor-General, which is an antiquated throwback to a
time when Britannica ruled the waves.
And now's the time to remove the Jack as the canton on our flag, and replace
it with the Aboriginal flag.
