Firefox Glitch or YouTube Glitch?
Sep 8th, 2022 at 2:39pm

When using YouTube, I prefer the "dark theme".  I log in to Google,
and select it for YouTube under the options.  It works okay in my
current session, but when I reopen YouTube after closing it, it reverts
to the standard white them.  Which means I have to select the dark
theme again.  While it's not the end of the world, it's still a pain in
the arse to have to do this every time I open YouTube.

It seems to have started happening with the last three updates of
Firefox, to the current version 104.0.2 (64-bit) which I'm now using.

I'm running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit on a Lenovo ThinkCentre AIO.

Google is faaarkin with Firefox.

I use FF all the time but noticed a significant performance difference watching the same Youtube video on Chrome.  FF often hesitates and pauses on loading, Chrome does not.

If you do some research you will find that Google is deliberately messing with opensource browsers.  If people switch then Google makes heaps more from the ads.

I normally use Firefox.
I notice that regardless of browser - YouTube always
puts videos into auto-play and
that has to be changed with the slider at the bottom of the video.
If I close the browser YouTube doesn't remember that choice.

My Microsoft Edge browser does annoying Microsoft tricks.
I noticed with Wordle that on one site it didn't show all the
copy and paste options that I see on Firefox and
tried to get me to use or buy or download OneNote.
I have Office but I don't want to muck around with OneNote
just to copy and paste a link.
Microsoft was blocking a link just to get me to use
and even pay for their product.
That to me is malware.

I've finally figured out it's a Firefox issue.  I've been using CCleaner
browser, and it holds the YouTube dark theme after you set it.

My current version of Firefox 106.0.2 won't utilize Colorful Tabs either.

Microsoft Edge also auto-installs itself into your startup menu
whenever you reboot.  It doesn't matter how many times you
uninstall it, it keeps coming back—like your mother-in-law at
Christmas and birthdays LOL.
