If Putin Wins.

Here's an interesting article on the possibility. There are a few Putin-supporters on Ozpol, but apart from the opportunity to gloat after Russia overruns Ukraine, it doesn't look good for them. So what does victory look like? Russian Ukraine will be one big bomb-site requiring a very expensive occupation. And one thing is certain, Europe is not going back to its pre-war social, economic and military complacency.

Do you think a lot has changed Since the article was published? I am sorry to see Western media playing Devil's Advocate on subjects like European Unity. They don't seem to know when it is necessary to drop their two-faced objectivity. Its a war, and it may march right over them. One thing that would be disastrous would be to have Russia capture Allied technology.

Can't find the cite for it, but I recall a quote about WWII

"America supplied the $'s, Russia supplied the blood."

20 million Russians died in WWII, they know how to grind on in hard times. The US lost in Korea, Vietnam, Cuba, Iraq and Afghanistan.

If America had been fighting an Iraq style war in Mexico instead of the other side of the world, they would have won that, but they lost. Ukraine is Russia's Mexico, they will eventually win that war too.

But all the old tricks are being recycled once again.

Just this last day the old War Crime thing is trotted out about rockets hitting a shopping center. smacking Americans, two faced kunts they are have done worse. I recall a gunship strike on an Afghan hospital.

A lot has changed in well over 3 months.
Russia and Ukraine have lost a lot of their troops and equipment.

I agree with basis of the article -
Russia if it wins just wins a smoking pile of rubble that they created.

There will be no winners, everyone loses especially the innocent civilians. It would be like Korea, divided between East and West, with a long line of no man's land in between. Trade will resume. Because, both Russia and Ukraine are resources states, even if the west dont want them, other countries would be eager for them. There is no morals or ethics, just self interest and money.

This is relativism. If its OK for the US, its OK for Russia. I cannot condone the invasion on those assumptions. Its an immoral point of view.

Putin thought it would be a cakewalk and he could decapitate the Ukrainian government in weeks, if not days.

He got a shock.

The Russians took huge losses and could not take Kyiv so now he has returned to a "more rubble less trouble" strategy of indiscriminately using long-range rockets and artillery to create mass destruction and try to break Ukrainian will.

If the West is serious about keeping the democratic state of Ukraine alive they need to give them long rage missiles and artillery to counter this and take out Russian attack targets currently out of Ukrainian military range.

Despite the horror of this war, there is one upside, it has revealed the Russian military is no match whatsoever for the combined forces of NATO.

The US in Afghanistan and Iraq did not decapitate and appropriate
territory.

In both wars, they established democratic governments.

Both wars had UN resolutions which it can be argued sanctioned the conflict.

None of this applies to Putin's raw agression in Ukraine.

I think it can go both ways. If Putin wins, then the west will be desperate for win, and so they will likely to commit more in South China sea. The best case senario that China would hope for, is for the west and Putin to duke out in a protracted war over a few years. And there by draining the west of popular support for any future war, and its economy.
