As soon as the Greed is Good 80's came into America - inflation began is acceleration upwards like a cocaine high.

Things were better in the 1960s to 1970s where our Australian dollar was worth 400 Japanese yen and anything yank (USA) was cheap as chips… I recall the classic cars then were a dime a dozen. Now look how tables have turned. Back then Australia was ranked high … like 3rd best country in world if I recall.
So the late 80s interest rate hike up to 17% - 18% put an end to that good ranking. Hello 1990s “recession we had to have”.
