I went to town yesterday for my monthly supplies, and it was like that, hardly any shoppers around, some stores were closed, very quiet. Usually it's a lot busier so I'm wondering if the situation is affecting us down here too, my barber was even closed for the day. Coles supermarket wasn't as busy as it usually is, and I was one of only three customers in the Supercheap Auto store while I was in there, I spent a heap, I reckon they were glad to get that money, it showed on their faces, they massively reduced prices to get stuff out the door. I bought some quality stuff that I considered to be real bargains
Our food prices have risen, our fuel prices also. Electricity prices have risen to ridiculous levels
Cashed up investors are snapping up cheaper houses in rural towns to hedge against inflation, lots of "Sold" stickers in the windows of real estate agents shops just lately, and I know the locals didn't buy those properties
How is it in the United States, you have high fuel prices as well don't you?. Any quiet shopping centers up there, how about Walmart, are they feeling the pinch?
