Er...... societies exist WITHIN borders.
Borders and nation states are pretty new. Society is not
This is really inane.
Ancient Mesopotamian, Greek, Roman cities, provinces, empires had borders, often walled borders. Borders mark the society ( ie association of people) within them. A society is shared laws, values, history, culture, language, way of relating to each other and to OTHERS outside the particular society and its borders.
Cities, suburbs, provinces, countries have borders to show where one particular form of association ends and another one begins. To say, as you seem to be saying, that society = whole of humanity is absurd and at the same time a banal reductionism.
I am sure you are teeming with many such absurd banalities but I can't say I am looking forward to reading about them.
