China in bed with Afghanistan.
Oct 28th, 2021 at 7:06am

Who would have thunk it?

One is a murdering collection of unflinching human rights abuses and the other.........

I wonder if China will offer re-education for the Taliban?

Or is it just that the Taliban knows that to take on China is suicide?

More a sign of the Chinese cartel's terror of the East Turkestan Independence Movement.

Worst case scenario for the Chinese cartel:

Jihadis from within Afghanistan kidnap cartel internal security bureau officials from Xinjiang and publicly execute them.

Given the atrocities committed by the cartel in Xinjiang, it would take some hard work and huge concessions to put the world on the side of the cartel against Islamic terrorism.

Muslims to take the side of godless Chinese communists against other Muslims for filthy lucre?  Abandon the idea of the ummah?

Can't see it happening. Even if the Taliban goes along, ISIS won't.

In other news:

The Land Borders Law, which will go into effect on January 1, comes at a time when China is concerned with security on its frontier with Taliban-controlled Afghanistan, COVID-19 entering the country via illegal border crossings from its southeast Asian neighbors and a tense standoff with India over their mutual border that has seen deadly skirmishes in the past year.

According to the text of the law, China's People's Liberation Army will be allowed to counter any "invasion, encroachment, infiltration, [or] provocation" that occurs on any of the country's borders and provides a legal framework for hard border closures if Beijing sees fit.
...
Chinese officials have raised concerns not only over relations with India. They have also voiced fears that Islamist extremists may cross the border into Xinjiang province and connect with Uyghur Muslims, tens of thousands of whom are currently being rounded up by authorities and sent to forced reeducation and labor camps.

Desperate situation create strange bedfellows.... you can be certain the 'negotiations' to 'end the war' included talks on this kind of thing.

Islam, and more particularly, Islamism, is a 'state without borders' with all 'citizens' linked by their common belief system.  Engaging the Talib to help with the Uighur is a precarious thing to attempt, more likely to allow 'sleepers' inside your borders.

The deepest and most poetic irony would be if the Chinese cartel needed to invade and occupy Afghanistan to prevent Islamic uprisings within China.

The cartel would then become a caged monkey for every power, (including India, Russia, the US, Japan and maybe South Korea) to needle them to collapse, at their leisure.

If China did decide to invade Afganistan.

There would be none of the pussyfooting around like previous groups.

The Chinese never back off and are quite happy to "clean up" any muzzo infestations with plenty of firepower.
In the Chinese eyes, there are no non-combatants.
Everyone is involved and if the Taliban tactic of hiding behind women and children in a village or city, that village or city would be ashes in no time.

I'd really like to see the Taliban take on China.
It's a very effective way to cleanse the earth of muzzos.

You're assuming world powers wouldn't execute a proxy war in Afghanistan against the cartel, as happened in the 80's when the Soviets invaded Afghanistan.

The US support for the Mujahideen against the Soviets was the most successful covert operation in US history. And the Soviets didn't pussyfoot around in Afghanistan either.

It's almost certain that would happen again...

The advantages in favour of world powers against the cartel would be huge.

The abandonment of the 9-dash line claims in the South China sea, the acknowledgement of Taiwan as an independent nation, the relinquishing of Tibet and Inner Mongolia... &etc... would all be on the table.

The Russians were hardly known for their velvet glove when they attempted to control Afghanistan and it did not end well for them. Can't see it being any different for China.

Contrary to a popular theory history doesn’t always repeat itself. The Taliban kissed Russian and Chinese arses to gain access to their state of the art satellite intelligence. Couldn’t have thrashed the US and it’s lackeys without it. Being not too bright the Taliban now imagine they’ll be looked after by Moscow & Peking. Big mistake. Russia & China are playing a very clever game while the West has it’s pants around it’s ankles.

More of a tactical withdrawal and a strategic re-positioning for The Next Real Threat..... pull in the small outposts and restructure and re-disposition the troops to a different game..... no prizes for guessing what the next Big Game is .... the Asian-Pacific Basin has always been a hotbed of competition for markets between the industrialised nations..... doesn't leave you many to consider, eh?
