Wrong. You are allowing your partisan Liberal party leanings to blind you to the broader implications.
Porter took the money. Either he genuinely doesn't know who donated it (which is a problem) or he does know but is using a blind trust to hide its source (which is also a problem).
No matter what the details are, it's a problem. If the government doesn't crack down on this, it sets the precedent that it's okay to take money from anyone, as long as the money is laundered through a blind trust.
This must be fought, and fought hard. We need to be improving integrity in politics, not making it worse.
As for Porter's chances in Pearce, he is on a margin of 5.2% in Pearce (post-redistribution) and the opinion polls are predicting a swing against the Libs in WA that is significantly larger than this. Even if Porter had no poor record to worry about, he would still have grounds to worry about being swept out of Parliament in a WA-specific landslide.
