Tell me lee, what does the slope of the rate of change give?

It gives the rate of change. The speed with which the data changes. Exactly as I posted.

Edit: oh look JM has truncated his graphic. What a mendacious person he is. Wink
And he couldn't even do that properly. Grin Grin Grin Grin

'Climate science' (mostly stats anyway) is hopelessly compromised and politicised.

Look at people baying for 'net zero' and 'climate action'. They are stupid and they everywhere - except in front of Chinese embassies.
It's the latest Children's Crusade but giving a very wide berth to reality.

No lee, it gives you the acceleration of the rate of change.

If the graph HAD BEEN of temperatures you would have been right. But the graph was CLEARLY labelled CHANGE in temperatures. No need to calculate the first derivative to get the rate of change.

This was obvious but you MISSED it. You missed it because you are an obsessive-compulsive with a fear of change. You were wrong here, you were wrong with the age of Antarctic volcanoes and you wiveere wrong with your “four new papers” because you do not look at things objectively. You are an obsessive and so miss the obvious.

So you would say that the acceleration from 1905 to 1920 at 0.02C or about 0.01/decade, and from 1970 -1990 at about 0.016C or 0.008/decade is lower than 2000*2020 at about 0.006 or or 0.003/decade. Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

And the Y axis is clearly showing as Deg.C/year. So for approx. 20year periods my analysis was correct. It doesn't matter whether it is raw or anomaly data. So which do you disagree with? Roll Eyes

There is actually a lot of the curriculum devoted to understanding graphs in physics and mathematics in senior high school and at University in the lower years.

And I can read the label on a graph, unlike some  Smiley  Smiley Smiley  Smiley Smiley

And still fail to understand them.

So is 0.003C/decade greater or lesser than 0.01C and/or 0.008C/decade? Wink

If we look at the graph of the rate of change:

...

we see the mid century cooling caused by sulphate emissions then after 1980 the rate of warming zooms up as first sulphate emissions stabilise and then decrease all the while CO2 emissions keep growing.

After the 1998 bump from the huge El Nino in 1998 we see the rate of temperature changes not move much but then the rate zooms up after 2004: warming is happening at a faster rate now than late last century!

We are close to the 1.5°C temperature increase we are supposed to stick to, 20 years away. If the rate of increase of the warming we will be there before 20 years time and be racing to the 2°C rise.

Ooh look JM has heavily qualified his statement. Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

And HadCRUT shows roughly the same temperature 2000 and 2020. Maybe a slight cooling. Wink

So tell us what will happen if it gets to 2C above? Not computer models. Wink

And yet more from JM -
Jovial Monk wrote on Oct 21st, 2021 at 7:59am:
The huge bushfires in 20/21 has put 14,000 species at risk of extinction!

Quote:
More than 14,000 invertebrate species, including insects, spiders and worms, lost habitat in the 2019–20 wildfires across Australia. At least one animal, the Banksia montana mealybug (Pseudococcus markharveyi) seems to have gone extinct in the fires. A report from the National Environmental Science Programme recommends that 60 species be added to Australia’s list of threatened invertebrates, almost doubling the number on the list. And those are “just the ones we know about”, says entomologist and arachnologist Jess Marsh — many more vulnerable species lack sufficient data to be listed.

https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2021/oct/20/overlooked-14000-inverteb...

AGW sees hotter summers drying out more vegetation which makes fuel for bushfires—critters and as we see whole species can die in huge, violent bushfires.

That's not exactly what it says.

"More than 14,000 invertebrate species, including insects, spiders and worms, lost habitat in the 2019–20 wildfires across Australia"

Lost habitat is not the same as at risk of extinction. If 1% of a species habitat was lost it would have no impact. IF 97% of habitat was lost - it would.

And nothing said about people not able to access parks to remove deadfall which is the largest element in bushfires.

His hilarious comments about taking the slope of the line to get the rate of change—from a graph showing the rate of change!

The acceleration of the rate of change, which you get by taking the slope of the graph of the rate of change would not be degrees/decade but degrees per decade per decade just like an object falling near the surface of the earth accelerates at 9.8m per second per second: 9.8m per second is the increase in speed at which the object falls each second, 9.8m per second per second (9.8m/s
2
)

And now lee reposts “three new papers” directly from WUWT.

More hilarity!

First lee says the models are running too hot, now he is saying, in effect, that the models are running too cool because they don’t take into account increased SW radiation! Same he didn’t want to admit to an increase in the rate temperature was increasing at yet now apparently that acceleration in the rate of warming is too small!

None of those three papers touch on WHY clouds have changed! Pisspoor papers.

I saw mentioned two–three years ago that the nature of clouds was changing, that cumulonimbus (thunderstorm clouds at low levels in the atmosphere) type clouds were giving way to cirrus type clouds—wispy thin clouds at high altitudes. We know cumulonimbus clouds reflect/absorb a lot of light which is why we see them as gray. Cirrus clouds let most light through and they appear white in consequence.

You can believe the change is random if you like, saves you having to think. More useful is to think of a reason and that reason will be an effect of AGW in all likelyhood. After all, AGW changes the convection patterns in the atmosphere.

The utter stupidity of lee:

Quote:

Just look at the blithering idiocy spewed out there. . . . . . . . . . . .

DegC per year
raw or anomaly data

After I told the idiot in SEVERAL posts that the graph was the rate of change of temperatures.

If it is change in degrees C, not the actual degree C it is not raw or anomaly data, it is the CHANGE in the data. So if Year one had an average temperature of 16.25 and the next year it was 16.30 then the CHANGE is 16.3 - 16.25 = 0.05°C/year.

The 0.05°C/year would be one of the points on the graph of CHANGE IN TEMPERATURES. Did you not notice that the intervals on the ordinate were tiny? Like -0.01, 0.00 etc?

You weren’t always as stupid as you have shown yourself to be in the last week or so. Maybe you need a week away from the computer? Just getting too obsessive, completely ignoring what is right in front of you in favor of what your obsession WANTS to see there.
