Indifference?
Is that now an offence?
If so then most of the world's population should expect to be grilled.
The commission of an offence with depraved indifference is now against the law in certain parts of the US, and the development of law here should rightly follow that path to cover such things. For example, deliberately dumping someone in a desert as punishment and having that person die of thirst is now subject to a murder charge. You don't think seriously that SAS Australia actually does all those things to its 'recruits' without full and proper safety, do you?
(I glance in on it occasionally - at least in 'Hell Week' they are actually doing things like flog them all day until they are about to drop, and then tell them they've got an hour before their night shift starts.... off you go - whispered once into the ear are co-ordinates for a 'meet', miles away, and if you miss it, the pick-up chopper, boat, truck is gone..... it's a long walk home) ....
Remember what I said about Gladys - 'plausible deniability' is now under fire, and to my simple mind, the clear intent is to install the concept of 'depraved indifference'. Think on it - same thing.
Woolies would have to be realistic and realise that what they were paying to a company was at least double what the driver would receive, and let's be honest, they would be paying that company less than they would be paying a driver directly employed by themselves and for a company vehicle.
They KNEW that - ergo - they are guilty.
...ah, yes - the old security officer 'wink-wink' at Parliament House trick, eh? Of COURSE the dork is not taking a drunken sheila upstairs in privacy for an illegal root..... just work at 1.50 am on a Saturday morning, YES?
