A man's day ends with the setting sun, a woman's work is never done!

Women always have The Home but when men retire they often don't even have a hobby. They get bored without the daily grind of going to work and coming home again.  Grin They need to get a hobby of some sort .... before they retire.

The problem is when you have too many hobbies.

I love building and home maintenance, when the crona shite finishes, Ill be helping my son do up his house.
My daughter does comicon, and I build weapons for her.
Im a member of a rescue organisation, but I have to watch myself in case I start doing too many hours and it becomes a chore.
There is my golf, I just wish I could get better at it.
My swimming, to keep fit
My fishing, gotta do that, its relaxing
My kayaking, sometimes mixed with fishing.
Im doing up an old car, that's fun
I help out neighbors.

Dont know where I'm gonna find any more time for hobbies.

This is one of my favorite comicon weapons I built, took a while.

outstanding work valkie.

one must maintain a reason to "get out of bed in the morning"
you have many

Quite so. Oh, some would advise Matty to go out and get a job, but what's the point? Our disability support pensions are good enough to get by on. They keep Matty in glue and fishing hooks and give him the time to come here and moan about Boongs on the dole.

You gotta have a dream, no?

I don't blame you!

Do you collect anything else?

The daughter does comicon, an event where kids her age (18 to100) dress up as characters from almost anything.
Its fun, safe and they all try to outdo each other.

I have made about 30 various weapons so far, for her and her friends.
But there are rules.
No metal weapons are allowed.
No functional weapons are allowed
No weapons over 1 metre long
and if they look too dangerous, they evaluate the person ans weapon, If they don't like either, you don't get in.

Happy to say, no problems so far.

I have also made doll houses for local day care centers that my granddaughter used to go to.
I make em tough enough that I can stand on them, they dont break that way.

A couple of theme beds for the grandsons.
Pirate ship, Rocket ship, truck.
I also make tiny furniture for them.

Yes, I understand.

Any comments on retiring?

I think I'm retired.
I've been out of work for nearly for 16 months
and I haven't applied for a single job -
I don't like the workforce anymore.
It's just a rat race and all companies are run by nasty bean counters.

They start you off on one job and within
1 year you're doing the job of 5 people.
Work is just dumped on you and you're made
to feel responsible for jobs you never signed up for.
They also remove personnel resources from you
without permission and expect you to do their jobs as well.
They overload you so much that only by doing
unpaid overtime could you get 80% of it done.
They can all get stuffed -
I don't work for free.
Plenty of desperate suckers do and they can have it.

1. SURPRISINGLY - the days, weeks, months, years - and LIFE - pass by at a much accelerated speed
I was exprcting they'd all SLOW DOWN

2. On your last day of work, do a quick calculation on how many years you expect to live in retirement - let's say 30, as this example
Now cast your mind back 30 years
And think "where did THAT go"
Where you lived ?
Where you worked ?
What you did in your spare time ?

This will be the FiRST time you'll seriously look at your own mortality

Make yourself a pledge to put a HELL of a lot more into the next 30 - than the past 30

3. Think about every good cause you'd ever said
"I'd like to do volunteer work for them, one day"
And get out and DO it

4. The "finally I can kick back and put my feet up" thrill - totally wears off, at no longer than 6 months

5. Good Luck

Gregory

That gun thingy you made certainly looked like it had a lot of metal in it?

Yep. Freediver himself has recently warned us about a few things like that.

Retired at the end of June 2019 just over a month before my 62nd birthday and now living on my superannuation (as a pension) until I qualify for the age pension when I hopefully reach 67 in August 2024.

When I occasionally see the owner of the last place where I worked before retiring he always asks me when am I coming back to work for him again (I can work a maximum of 10 hours a week if I wanted) but nah, I can't see it happening with my health issues (which I only found out about a few months after retiring) and also having a 91 year old aunt to look after as well.
