Doesn't explain why our senior politicians were initially assuring us that everything would be business as usual... 'You can still go to the footy' ... early last year.

Then the cruise ship cock-up...

FALSE.

It's still around today - it's the H1N1 virus.
It's now a weakened variant and we have most likely all had it.

I said the worst of the Spanish Flu was two years ... a weakened version hung around long after that

Apparently Covid will also hang around too as a weakened virus, for years to come

It can happen that future variants are weaker. It can also happen the other way.

A recent example would be the Delta variant ?

For the first two years the Spanish flu had different variants they had to deal with

Sydney 'buzzing' as reopening begins,
NSW records 496 new COVID-19 cases

...

They're numbers that, just a few months ago, would have sparked soul-searching — almost 500 new COVID-19 infections and eight deaths in a 24-hour period.
Key points:

Many NSW businesses are reopening for the first time in months today
Only people fully vaccinated against COVID-19 are being given new freedoms
Premier Dominic Perrottet said: "We need to learn to live alongside the virus."

Instead, there was an air of cautious optimism on Sydney's streets.

Fully vaccinated people in NSW have been given a swathe of new freedoms after a 107-day lockdown.

It means they can get a parmy at the pub, a haircut, dance at a wedding, go to a mosque or church and workout at the gym.

Leichhardt gym owner Karlah Van Arend said there was a buzz this morning.

"All of our classes were packed out, fully booked," she said.

"I think everyone was just raring to get back into the gym.”

Discrimination against everyone else?

The fully vaxxed can still catch and spread Covid, so why the discrimination?

It will be the vaccinated who are the asymptomatic spreaders.

I can't find anything about the eight deaths today, whether they were vaxxed or not, probably hushing it up from now on so they can say vaccination works

The vaccines are only 60% to 95% effective -
so there will be many vaccinated people who will still die from Covid.

i would reckon being vaxxed turns delta from being nasty to being the equivalent of influenza.

now, lets not forget, in a bad flu season, about 2000 elderly and frail people die (about 12 a day for a winter season).

and we dont have daily press conferences.
we dont have qr codes
we dont have people signing in
we dont have lots of testing.

so if covid kills a dozen a day, its totally ignorable (its been ignored for the last decade).

if it starts to kill 100 a day, we need to act.

but the community has to accept that people die from diseases.
they accepted this totally til 2019.
now they have developed a mass hysteria about it.

its a mass hypochondrical delusional state.
thank god the liberals in NSW had the spine to stand up to it
