The ONLY time I take any notice of "sport" is when the Olympics (or Commonwealth Games) is on.  I still pick and choose which sport I watch but I am there, yelling Aussie,Aussie, Aussie* .. Oi, Oi, Oi.

* NOT the dickhead called "Aussie" who posts on these forums.

I watched most of the opening I missed the aussies coming on though I didnt think it was too bad after all what they have had to put up with. I will watch the swimming and track and field  but the rest they can keep over 200 countries  competing   thats pretty good really...

Bit of a shock to see Barty out...but she was well off her game.  I guess that is understandable having just won Wimbledon.

Yeah.

As high as 30 or 33 degrees    Grin

In Darwin, it's 33 degrees 350 days of the year.

3 gold medals today. Takes Australia to 5th on the medal table. Only 3 more gold medals to overhaul Rio's stupid 8 gold medals. Hopes to come with the remainder of the swimming, cycling, rowing and a few other sports to get us into the teens, hopefully.

The ridiculousness of it all is that I spend about 5 months of the year living in 30 to 35 degree days. I could acclimatise to the conditions really quickly. But, the athletes are mainly from down south way where they do not have those warm to hot days to acclimatise. Plus, they have been under winter conditions. Others have been in Europe where the temperatures are usually warm but not hot, for the most part.

In 11 years time, there is a proposed idea that the Brisbane games will be held during the winter. I wish they would hold off until at least August later in the month, just so that there is some warm nights. But, I would assume that the winter factor might be still cold at that time of year.

I like the 100m,  200m and 400m sprints.
The diving is quite good and so is gymnastics.
There should be something in this for everyone
unless they are a wet blanket.

I am getting the Olympics on my computer free but
with adverts after creating an account here:

https://7plus.com.au/

It's working!
I am watching the
Men's +80kg Taekwondo - Gold Medal Contest
17m
Vladislav Larin of the ROC faces North Macedonia's Dejan Georgievski.

It wasn't exciting like MMA - a bit dull.
Anyway - I'll keep trying.

Ima smelling an Oriental rat.  I may be wrong, but I can't recall any Chinese swimmer getting anywhere near Titmus and Ledecky in the 200m individual freestyle...yet in the 4x200m freestyle relay, they win..and in WR time.

Nah.
