Forum irritations and inconsistencies
Jul 12th, 2021 at 9:39am

Some sections of this forum appear to have had their underlying sofware fiddled with. (by individual moderators?) . Instance new music section posts don’t appear for a long time after being made. If this is the work of some misguided mod the question is why are such alterations to forum software even allowed?

I am not aware of any way the board mods could do this.

Try ctrl-F5 next time.

At what stage to I hit ctrl-F5 ?
Interestingly this problem doesn’t occur on every section of the forum. The <Music: What Are You Listening To> section is the worst.

I simply can’t be bothered with farting around with this anymore, whatever the cause.

I find the delay is true on subjects that have a lot of pages.

I noticed a glitch earlier today.

I made a post, and it seemed to vanish completely.

Then, when someone else responded to it, it became visible
to me, but had duplicated itself.

It's fixed now, but seemed unusual.

I have had it happen before, but that was years ago.

Frank seems to want a ban from here. Fair warning, OK?

Commenting on a picture is now a banning offence??  I didn't post the picture, you did.

Look at that carpet. Are you going to ban comments on your carpet? You will censor comments on your carpet???

Or is it the idiots have always been here but were diluted by those who could think?

Idiots like:

Booby
Mortdooly
Captain Caveman
WombatWoody
LostNail

Various others. Not a total idiot but trying to seem wise and knowledgeable Jasin comes across as boring and obscure.

Look at the Corona Virus board—complete waste of space except for some like Sad Kangaroo.

Pretty sad.

You mean 'idiots'  who notice that YOU live in filthy squalor?

Given repeat transgressions and considering the bans I was awarded last year I hope Booby and Frank get a 3 month forum–wide ban.

Because of the 'transgression' and thoughtcrime of of looking at your carpet and remarking on it.

Which YOU posted.

Bbwianesque.

Delayed posts are common on all Forums.
Some members just put a . on a following post or two to bring their former one up to pace.
It doesn't happen all the time so take a chill pill Ayn.
Thank god we have 'real women' on this Forum.
Hi Agnes, how ya going?

I find most homes I have visited that allow cats & dogs inside are like that.

I can't stand the smell.

Hi Agnes, how ya going?

Incorrect. I've been frequenting a tech forum for years and have never seen that nor seen any other member complain about it.

So Admins, when you gonna ditch this horrible forum software and move to one that provides standard functions like notifications? How many replies to our posts do we miss because of this? What are we supposed to do, bookmark every post we make?

And links - every other forum software provides the function to parse links, but not this antiquated one. And not just forum software. Web based email software from back in the 90s would do it. The time wasted on this forum by being forced to do it manually must add up to hours and hours.

Well?

Your topic in music that you post in regularly has about 500 pages and 6,674 posts virtually all with links to music files. I suspect this can have an effect.

(didn't notice this is an old topic - Now it seems to be about dogs and carpet if you can believe that).

Cats are not that bad, at least they keep the vermin away, in general...

Dogs OTOH, well what do you expect from an animal that eats shite?
