Yes...

And they have a nasty Darwinian 'survival of the fittest' instinct.

They usually have two offspring... Only the strongest chick will be fed and survive... The other one will likely die of starvation and neglect.

Interesting.
I must’ve missed out finding out about these during my life?
I showed hubby, and a visiting friend… they lived under the same rock as me  Grin Grin

It would be good to hear from others to admit they never seen or known of this strange looking chicky bird!

The wonders of life and this planet!

It’s amazing looking… albeit a bit weird … but fascinating at the same time.

How in the world did any of us baby boomers see or know much of anything without the internet I will never know   Shocked

Whatever we were shown in books supplied …was it.

I’m impressed finding out so much more about the existence of unusual species.

If anyone wants to share unusual wildlife of any type… would love to see it and learn more.

I saw my first (and only once) real bear in Canada in 2016.
Coming out of hibernation to eat dandelions roadside.

People live with these bears that go rummaging in their yards in the bins!

I thought having kangaroos going across our property was cool!

I bet many in Oz have not even seen a real kangaroo unless they go to a sanctuary etc

Until I constructed raised and well fenced vegitable beds this year I wasn’t all that happy to see them eating my tomatoes as soon as they were perfectly ripe.
Why I don’t know, but out here in the Tasmanian Bush (wilderness to you lot in the US) they’re so tame I can’t frighten them away, neither can my dogs.

Speaking of dogs I’ve just returned from the dog park in the local village. There were 20 or so muts there plus mine and my neighbours dog. One border collie approached me and stuck to my side the whole time. The owner told me it never does that with strangers. I’ve no idea why it attached itself to me. And don’t any of you nasty bods try and tell me it’s because I was on heat.

Yes, I’ve witnessed the results on the mainland. However, contrary to what Tasmanians will try to tell you there are no kangaroos down here, only wallabies, a much smaller animal and far less likely to attack in that manner.
