NSW’s COVID-19 lockdown is being extended, and overhauled, after 177 new infections were announced today – a record in the current outbreak.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian blamed low vaccination rates as she announced the current stay-at-home orders affecting Greater Sydney, the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Wollongong and Shellharbour would be extended for four weeks, until 12:01am on Saturday, August 28.

But there will be changes, including:

A 10 kilometre restriction for shopping
A pathway for Year 12 students to return to classrooms from August 16
    Construction re-opening in some settings
A support bubble for single people living alone
A new financial support package for businesses and individuals

The local government areas (LGAs) of Parramatta, Campbelltown and Georges River have also joined a growing list of areas subjected to an Authorised Workers Order.

Yikes!!

At least Gladys has someone else to blame now - the protestors from the weekend.

NSW is doomed.

New South Wales has recorded 172 new locally acquired COVID-19 cases, with at least 60 of those infectious in the community.

The new cases in the 24 hours to 8pm on Monday came from 84,486 tests.

It comes as an apartment block in Sydney's west has been locked down for two weeks after six positive cases were detected in residents.

Indeed, NSW is stuck in lockdown, and Victoria is coming out of it. Direct evidence, short sharp strong lockdown works.

It worked for NZ at the crucial time last year.
It worked for us Victorians just now, and that’s the way to do it.
Except last year was horrific with 4 months lockdown because of bungle up with security guards at hotel quarantine…..
I hear Sydney going into another month of lockdown…. wishing them all the best …..
if any Sydneysiders want to know how to bide that time….I’m sure some of us Melbournians (being an old hand with this) can offer some comforting advice.
1. Start doing “bin outing” vids all dressed up.
2. Zoom vid meetings and musical get togethers.
3. Cook lots of different recipes you’ve always wanted to try out of those hardly opened Cook books, or follow online recipes.
4. Netflix, etc especially those with about 6-7 seasons to get hooked into.
5. Lots of FaceTime calls on mobile phones to you loved ones.
6. Bunnings online shopping and pick up to paint/fix house that’s in need of that bit of TLC nagging at you for some time.
7. Make online photo books of your travels since travel is now very restricted.
8. Go through unused stuff stored and minimise what is using up valuable real estate space in house.
9. Appreciate the fact we have more than most in third world countries, we have more cushy stuff and the world online at our fingertips compared to war torn times.
10. Don’t drink too much alcohol as this was a huge developed problem that came about for some during our 4 month Victorian lockdown in 2020. Investigate healthy alternatives for your well being.
11. Lucky the Tokyo Olympic are on at present… enjoy and feel the triumphs.
12. Forgot to mention… all them funny relatable memes kept us in good humoured spirit.

Or live near the beach. Today, 5km walk, 5km SUP and a quick swim.
This arvo I'll do a 2km ocean swim.

Probably an apartment block in Blacktown occupied by African darkies, there's plenty of them there

It's always the Darkies who do it.

I just watched the news. I was right about it being Blacktown, but they interviewed an Indian by mobile, standing out on her balcony. Darkies live in a block a few doors down, I know about these blocks.

I'm glad I moved away from the third world suburbs of Sydney

Why is real estate so highly priced in Sydney? -
it's just turning into a 3rd world cesspool.

Hey Bobby, want to buy an unrenovated semi? Got $6.5?   Grin

I can't afford it:

Bondi Rescue star sells his 1930s Bondi Beach semi-detached home for a whopping $6.5million making it the most expensive of its kind in the suburb... and it's not even renovated

By Mary Mrad For Daily Mail Australia

Published: 10:52 AEST, 8 April 2021 | Updated: 11:33 AEST, 8 April 2021

Bondi Rescue lifesaver Bobby 'Yak' Yaldwyn has sold his unrenovated 1930s semi-detached home in Bondi Beach for $6.5million.

He managed to secure a buyer for the three-bedroom property, which his family purchased in 1991 for $246,000.

According to Domain, Bobby sold the home off-market and the sale has made it the most expensive house of its kind in Bondi Beach.

Lucky ducky you Gordon!
My son lives near the beach too. Always going for bike rides or jogs along the foreshore.

Us… well we live in a treed urban area on acreage with a lake so there’s no feelings of confine here either.
Appreciate it… more than ever … especially more during our 4 month lockdown.
This is where many suburbians wanted to leave their dog boxes and go to beachside, country and regional, and actually many left Vic to go live interstate.

It's only sucko Sydney in lockdown, not the whole state. The Orange-Bathurst region, which was infected by a truck driver from Sydney, is now free of Covid. That leaves only Gestapo Gladys's multicultural Sydney in police state lockdown

It was sublime today!!!

Yeah beach or bush is the only way to go. When I was on the SUP today way out the back, a couple of old chooks were swimming laps and popped their head up. I knew one of them and we had a quick chat. Smiley
