It is China’s first mission to Mars, and makes it only the third nation — after Russia and the United States — to have landed a spacecraft on the planet. The mission “is a big leap for China because they are doing in a single go what NASA took decades to do”, says Roberto Orosei, a planetary scientist at the Institute of Radioastronomy of Bologna in Italy.

Why are no news reports ever independently reported, by independent sources, from within China ?

Oh yes!     ....that is because Chinese functionaries [Chinese secret police service] in recent years have regularly arrested [individuals trying to conduct] independent [foreign] news reporting sources, within China.

Why is that ?

And why are persons who are arrested by Chinese police on innocuous charges, always prosecuted within CLOSED courts ?

What is wrong with Chinese law and justice, that its court procedures cannot be independently observed [i.e. by foreign news reporting services] ?

Gordon we cant think like this.  Back in the 60s to 70s, Australia had its own rockets, and many what was advanced products back then (e.g. cars, fridges etc etc) were made in Australia.   However, despite us having abundant and cheap resources to back this up, we squandered it. 

You can say oh but they stole the technology.  Well, regardless, in the historic sense, they've learned it, now they know it, and they are out competing us.  So instead of sit back, and trying to laugh at someone who is now more advanced than us, may be try to come up with ways for Australia to catch up.
