Australian provocative warmongering towards China
Apr 28th, 2021 at 11:06am

Australia’s puerile and provocative war-mongering towards China is raising the risk of all-out military conflict

...

Instead of seeking to engage in pragmatic dialogue – and recognising that China is a major world power while Australia isn’t – politicians in Canberra seem determined to indulge themselves in macho acts of aggression.

Australia’s relationship with China has been in a state of crisis for the past year, and relations have degenerated even further over the past two weeks – despite attempts by China to ease tensions.

Last week, Wang Xining, the Chinese deputy head of mission in Australia, took the unprecedented step of appearing at the National Press Club in Canberra to speak and answer questions at a forum about Australia’s current “China crisis.”
Unfortunately, the federal government’s response to Wang’s attempt to reopen meaningful dialogue has been characterised by the same Cold War rhetoric, arrogance and ineptitude that created the crisis in the first place.
Australian Home Affairs Secretary Michael Pezzullo (who is slated to become the new secretary of the Department of Defense) delivered an Anzac Day message to his staff.
In the context of referring to escalating tensions over Taiwan, Pezzullo opined that “the drums of war” were beating and that Australia must be prepared “to send off, yet again, our warriors to fight.” He asserted that Australia must become “armed, strong and ready for war” and lavishly praised the rabid Cold War warrior, General Douglas MacArthur.
It would be difficult to imagine a more irresponsible or inflammatory statement than this, or a more dangerous evocation of Cold War rhetoric.

Last week, the Chinese Foreign Ministry issued a statement saying: “We urge Australia to set aside its Cold War mentality and ideological bias, and view bilateral cooperation in an objective and rational light”.

Unfortunately, no one in the Australian government appeared to be listening.

Is that why China is promoting newly built war ships, and building islands in the South Pacific with a clear military objective?

China is a bully, and I salute The PM for sticking up for Australia......

There would be no win against China, short or long term.
That's the reality that the present US hegemon and vassals refuse to accept.
Australia is set to lose all of the trade deals with China which will reduce their standard of living dramatically.
Tearing up the agreements with China will earn Aussies praise from the U.S. but at a tremendous cost to their economy.
If they get involved in a war with China or even support the US there will just be kangaroos living in Australia after that.
Sad

Seems reasonable.
Australia, the world's most China-dependent economy (95%) is shooting itself in the foot on behalf of the US.
40% of Australian economy is export of iron ore. All China need to do is repeat 2015 where drop in iron ore export sent WA into recession and get some of iron ore from Brazil or Russia.

Oh I don't think Australia could be "emboldened" by a senile old duffer who has a financial connection with China........Uncle Joe certainly doesn't want a war with him and Hunter's bank Manager at risk......go back to sleep uooobama.... Grin

Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade secretary Frances Adamson told a University of Adelaide graduating class that China wanted Australia to “compromise on key national interests” before it would resume dialogue and cooperation with the federal government.

“As China adopts a more authoritarian approach domestically and asserts itself internationally in ways which challenge and undermine those rules, Australia is experiencing a range of difficulties in its bilateral relationship with China,” said Secretary Adamson.

“The Australian government wants a constructive relationship with China where we can discuss differences and work for mutual benefit,” she said.

“Governments of other countries want the same or similar, but China expects compromise on key national interests in exchange for dialogue and cooperation.”

China is not interested to bully anyone.
Therefore No one is asking Australia to take a knee to China. Just behave in a rational and respectful way, as China does.
You need to lay off the Kool-Aid.
Current master US is ripping Australia off.

one thing's for sure... The world won't be tolerating another Tiananmen Square massacre...

You'd have been taught about the Tiananmen Square massacre at school, I guess... unless you went to school in mainland China... Where the emphasis would have been selection to work in slave conditions or be readied for prostitution.

You'd probably know the basic story... When Deng Xiaopig tried to make a show of China 'opening up'... The midget thought the Chinese people would be thankful to the CSNSP, until it was clear all they wanted was democracy, like Hong Kong and Taiwan... That's when things got ugly and he sent tanks and the army in there on a mass-killing spree... Unfortunately little Deng forgot about all those cameras recording the atrocities...

Mao Zedog should have just bashed Deng in the face with a shovel during the cultural revolution for all the good his imprisonment did to enlighten him on what kind of psychopath Mao was.

Still, I guess it means CSNSP soldiers can now still bash old women in the face for 'causing arguments and being a nuisance'

Small dog syndrome of a quasi nation.

This is a curse on British (now American) colony called Australia, inflaming bogan (yobbo) racists and neurotic little bumptious pot-bellied suburban Colonel Koalas everywhere.

Fuzzball is a total dupe and idiot.

China is not "building islands in the South Pacific".

Fuzzball gets an F for geography and reasoning and an A for propaganda.
