There are no free and independent assessors of anything in mainland China.

What gets out tells a way more horrific story, particularly in rural parts of China, where the CCP does not focus much except primarily as a source of potential slave labourers (and not just Uighurs).

These areas tend to be too impoverished to be a potential crucible of dissent, (the exceptions being, in the mind of the CCP: Hong Kong, Tibet, Xinjiang and Inner Mongolia)

I have been to China, Fiji, South East Asia, Bangkok, Bali, and impoverished areas are off limits and tourists are shown the nicer parts to spend tourism dollars on... I was told ages ago to give ourselves free time to walk the walk and talk the talk to mingle amongst locals.
There really is a huge rift between well off and impoverished... not much in the middle we call middle class.

Basically, I come away feeling saddened for those people and feel annoyed when others choose to turn a blind eye.
Even in Fiji.... a Fijian woman was talking to me about their hardships and make little money .... I don’t understand the low stated unemployment rate when I was told it was 25% of the country unemployed. (Back in 2000).

What was a “shameful” thing that happened... as our plane was delayed and our 2 hour taxi ride happened in daylight hours.... when it was supposed to be at night .... so we wouldn’t see how those Fijians really lived.
Tin shacks .... the type of old tin sheds old farmers here, keep their old tractors in.

And little shops/stores all with heavily adorned with iron bars....seems to indicate high crime rate.
I didn’t like it there at all, my friend that invited me seemed so blind and oblivious to it all. I actually felt sick to my stomach.

No wonder they (in those countries mentioned) view us as rich white westerners.

And these limits to power can only be sustained by the principles of free speech, the right to protest against the government and a free media.

The refusal to accede to this is a measure of the CCP's cowardice.

The competition for jobs would be immense in China. In Australia, migrants would take jobs driving taxis or manning service stations until they get better jobs. But in China, if they pay you a couple dollars an hour to make shoes, that is what you do. But, atleast the cost of living in not that high. The profit margins for the industries that pay low-income workers must be considerable that you get to see billionaires rising from those industries.

I said to hubby, I’m not putting up with bad attitudes from anyone and decided to be a bit more ruthful ... with a ‘there it is, take it or  leave it’ attitude. So no more nice guy or getting pushed over... had to learn to harden up a bit.
This is just a small example in life’s lessons of course.
But not all win by being a bit tough, so many business have sleazes with eases, and they coerce/rob people of hundreds of thousands for shonky investments. It’s a good con bring mr. nice guy in that scenario.

I can almost guarantee they would never have seen the 250k venture capital thrown at them at the time and Apple would never have got off the ground in this country because that money would have been used to buy property here and that says everything about this country and drop-kicks like yourself !!
