Yeah I was saying that tongue in cheek re: baby formula, and as you wrote how they are not looking after their own very well and yes, even our poorest/under privileged are looked after okay here...but in a future, these could be looked at as “remember the good old days when people with no work were paid and still fed well”.
I wonder if China ever had that era of people being looked after before they got to over a population of a billion?

Sadly - no they don't.... many Chinese are lovely people like you and I... and many of them want to get out... I know - I'm negotiating with a Chinese lawyer lady who wants to come here....

Why would that be in a super wonderful society?

So, you've given us:

Nostalgic revisionism (i.e. 50 years ago we could let the cat out at night so, how good was that?)
Sweeping generalisations identified through metonyms (i.e. The Chinese, China)
Self-serving bias
Spurious stats

Of course there are industrious people in China... There are also dangerous criminals, lazy people and everything in between...

The CCP appears to reward loyalty to itself as the highest good and (often unreasonably) elevates those who commit to that, without its having to face the consequences of open, independent and free accountability when it errs in its judgement (as the pandemic coverup demonstrates in gargantuan measure).

This is a regime that has exploited whatever industrious trait the 'Chinese' might claim as native to the 'Chinese ethos' and arrogated it to itself (as if the CCP invented it); and, along the road, enslaves and oppresses its people for its own glorification; in the same way that was once done, as national policy, in Germany and Russia.

Also, to think we all should be (or want to be) like you? Well... You appear damaged; maybe bipolar or obsessive-compulsive and narcissistic... Not traits that are ordinarily high on the list of admired qualities or worthy of cultivation.

I’m not going to say where, as I want to protect our Australian Chinese.... but my dear friend has been to a couple of areas where some Chinese are driving around with big signage boards expressing their disagreement and disgust at the CCP.

There are so many corporate psychopaths .... that’s why they are at the top... to be in business and for success needs a bit of manipulation even being a bit ruthful.
Otherwise everyone will walk all over you/use you/compete against you.
It’s not so easy starting up or being in business in these times.
Everyone wants to make a quid off everyone else.
One year, we had a heap of wood for sale, from our own property, and because we already had it cut, dried and covered, was ready for winter, but, we sold unprecedented amounts that winter much to our surprise because it was a wet year and the other wood selling businesses could not access wood with trucks where they usually go.

Thinking nothing more of it, 2 young huffy blokes come on our property enquiring about our wood, what type and how much, but in a jealous way and their body language made me wary.
They bought none, but I since found out where they worked from and I’m thinking.... such envy/spies .... ffs!
Just because they can’t access wood .... not my problem!
I said to hubby, I’m not putting up with bad attitudes from anyone and decided to be a bit more ruthful ... with a ‘there it is, take it or leave it’ attitude. So no more nice guy or getting pushed over... had to learn to harden up a bit.
This is just a small example in life’s lessons of course.
But not all win by being a bit tough, so many business have sleazes with eases, and they coerce/rob people of hundreds of thousands for shonky investments. It’s a good con bring mr. nice guy in that scenario.

it will teach you nobility and contribution

True but.... to survive your sole trader business you still need savvy to survive and there’s people that don’t pay...
People can be arses too, with no integrity.
Puts a sting in little people’s business ....
Any wonder so many shut shop/close down/give up. I do feel sorry for them. Not everyone has what it takes.

Takes some intestinal fortitude to have to face all sorts of people every day in business.
One really needs to be judgemental of characters.

I thought I was hearing things but the crooks in Canberra are offering $50,000 of tax payers money to any foreigner to come here and buy realestate and that means any cashed up chink which is what they are really targeting with this as usual !!!
