Turing's main claim to fame was finding a way to isolate the code from all the gibberish, hence the building of the electro/mechanical "Bomb" rotating wheels calculator, or computer if you like

What the idiot didn’t mention: without Alan Turing Britain likely would have lost WWII. Churchill looked forward to his “Ultras” everyday—ultra secret decodes of Nazi Enigma messages.

When WWII was over there was no award to Turing, no large gift from “a grateful populace.” Alan was just let go from Bletchley Park.

Alan never hid his homosexual nature tho he almost got married to one of the female workers at Bletchley Park—would have been strictly platonic but the girl broke the engagement.

Apart from his war work Alan did a lot for computing science: the idea of the stored program: the program as well as the data would be in the computer memory. The use of vacuum tubes (instead of electromechanical relays like in his Bombes) was another innovation Alan introduced or helped get accepted. The Turing test for determining whether or not a computer is capable of thinking like a human being.

Alan Turing was a genius. He was not just bright and clever—he was WAY more than that.

So putting Alan’s portrait on the £50 note is a belated and posthumous recognition of Alan’s vital contribution in WWII, literally the difference between defeat and victory. His work was on altogether a higher plane then the people who worked out the deGaussing coil to defuse magnetic mines or the people that worked out how to bend the radio beams German night bombers followed to find their target.

Bletchley Park must have been an amazing place! More really clever people and genuine geniuses there than anywhere else on the planet. The work was vital and urgent, of topmost importance.

Someone realised this German unit in France sent of a report “Lone plane approached and passed” or wtte so when stuck on a code of the day (the rotors in the German Enigma machines were changed every 24 hours) Bletchley Park would get the local RAF squadron to fly over that unit—gave them the key for the days code!

So putting Turing’s portrait on the £50 note is nothing to do with Cultural Marxism.
