Single women spend hours on their make up and dress in the hope that they will attract someone that they can choose to be their mate, knowing that they will attract as many males as they can.

In the case of the woman being taken then she still wants to show her partner that she is attractive and at the top of her game by out shining all others but she still does it primary for her partner rather than other women.

When you were a young lad did you dress to out shine other lads or attract a female.
