President Xi
On the other hand knows how to invest
He gives billions of dollars to unicorn entrepreneurial companies
He is helping to fund the best and the brightest with the enormous surplus that China makes due to it's incredible productivity

Meanwhile here in Australia
We have over a trillion-dollars debt
And what little money we do have available for investment
We spend on things like the NDIS
Mental health services to help people through the pandemic
Domestic violence services for all our failed relationships
Aged care royal commissions because all the chodes are too lazy to look after their parents

Just try and not look after your parents in China
President x will have you jailed

Basically China invests in all the right things
And we invest in all the wrong things

China doubles down on success
We double down on failure

China tries to give extra funding to winners
We try to give extra funding to losers

How disgraceful

Pathetically naive.

The CSNSP couldn't care less if you look after your relatives. You could keep them in a cage if you like, so long as they're out of sight.

Yes, I'd bet Xi knows how to invest. When he's overthrown or sent into exile, the Chinese people and the world will know the true extent of his... 'investments'... In himself.

'China invests in all the right things'??? Are you 5 years old?

I could go on... But the whole post reminds me of childhood arguments... Working out whose dad is the best.

All this will not deter democratic resolve.

When democracies take a stand, it is uncompromisable... The CSNSP will be ended either by war or by internal collapse.

Come on, don't be so pessimistic my little subject of her Majesty.
In fact, we have a bright future ahead of us in which Australia will be part of China. Unlike your colonial master Britain, China will allow you to become free citizens with your head of state.

How's that going in Hong Kong, Athos?

I'm curious.

Everything is fine, the patriots cleaned Hong Kong of domestic MI6 spies and brainwashed idiots, so that now Hong Kong is more a part of China than before the British "Orange Revolution".
Also, the air is much cleaner since we sent treacherous poo to Mum Britain and its colonies like Australia, Canada etc.

Indeed. But I'm curious. Without a government to tax and spend and prop up industry, how does Australia become self sufficient, like the "noble Chows"?

All we've ever been is a colony. It's been hard enough in Australia to find our own media magnates, as an example. For a while there,  Rupert and Conrad Black were the only two players in the market.
We don't have the skilled labour, but most importantly, we don't have investment.

Surprisingly wise and realistic from subjects of her Majesty.
Good for starting to wake up from a colonial dream.

And to think this is the land of of Confucius and Laozi?

They stopped with Mao, generally recognised as the last in the succession of Marxist-Leninist prophets.

You don't, by any chance, have a Chow descendent by marriage, do you?

You're not, by any chance, not racist, are you?

No Chinese by descent. 100% European.

I despise racism and consider it a scourge of  base human instinct to be overcome, not to be valued or nurtured.

In recent years, a host of promising unicorn
companies have emerged in China. These are local
startups that are generating enormous wealth early
in their development. (The standard definition of a
unicorn is a privately held startup valued at more
than US$1bn.) Most of these enterprises are in the
vanguard of their industry, leading the way for the
generation of new technologies, business activities
and business models. Their rise is thus regarded as a
bellwether of future economic growth.
Companies such as Tencent, Alibaba, Baidu and
JD.com, all less than 21 years old, have become
‘super-unicorns’: internationally recognised
competitors, often valued at US$10bn or more. We
believe that many more of today’s unicorns will also
grow into global industry giants in the future.
The rapid modernisation of China and the growth of
its economy help explain the unicorn phenomenon.
During the past few years, the main engine of
economic growth has shifted from investment to
consumption.
The rise of the mobile Internet has
transformed China’s huge consumer market, and the
generation born in the 1980s and 1990s has become
China’s most influential buying group, creating surges
in consumption that have brought new business
opportunities.
With novel ways of thinking and
shopping, China’s young consumers are looking for
more personalised, more convenient and smarter
products and services.
Another factor contributing to the emergence
of China’s unicorns is the pace of technological
innovation. Unlike businesses of the past, today’s
unicorns are competitive because of their mastery of
data and technology. And they expect to rely even
more on innovations in data-based insight, artificial
intelligence (AI) and blockchain. Technological
advances have made it possible, for example,
for unicorns to accurately predict consumer
demand and preferences, and rapidly shift their
businesses accordingly.

Ah yes... Your ignorance of the world (particularly Europe) is on display again.

See, that's how many people from parts of Europe can predict CSNSP tactics... They're nearly 100 years old.

Or how about Tibet?

Dalai Lama has sent his religious fanatics to India so that the air there is also clean.
Also our brothers Xinjiang Uighurs are also very happy
as the Americans detained their 22 terrorists in Guantanamo. Now China can freely flourish.

China has the second-largest consumer
market in the world (after the US). It is growing faster
and is less saturated than its US counterpart. It is
full of newly prosperous consumers with improving
standards of living who are largely unavailable to
unicorns in other economies. According to China’s
National Bureau of Statistics, consumer expenditures
accounted for 58.8% of overall economic growth in
the country in 2017.
China’s consumers are also relatively technologically
advanced. The country’s online retail sales ranked first
in the world in 2017, reaching RMB7.2tn (US$1.1tn)
– an increase of 32.2% from the year before.
Online
sales accounted for 15% of total retail sales of
consumer goods in China.

Former defence minister Christopher Pyne warns of potential war with China in the Indo-Pacific region

By defence correspondent Andrew Greene
Posted Yesterday at 11:07pm, updated 1 hour ago

The chances of a war in the Indo-Pacific region involving China are rising sharply, according to former defence minister Christopher Pyne, who warned Taiwan was most likely the next flashpoint.
Key points:

Mr Pyne said the likelihood of a "kinetic war" in the Indo-Pacific was now much higher than when he first served as minister for defence industry
He also pointed to Beijing's recent actions, such as taking control of Hong Kong and staring down criticism of its treatment of ethnic Uyghurs, to highlight the growing threat posed by the Chinese military
Earlier this month, a senior American diplomat confirmed Australia and the United States were discussing contingency plans in case a military conflict erupts over Taiwan

In an address to the University of Adelaide, the long-serving Liberal politician told graduating students "the strategic posture of the People's Republic of China is not as benign as it was", and is causing discomfort to the United States and its allies.

"The reality is that China is confident and capable and is not embarrassed to show it," he warned students on Monday.

Mr Pyne, who stepped down as defence minister in 2019, said the likelihood of a "kinetic war" in the Indo-Pacific was now much higher than when he first served as minister for defence industry.
